Max
On Thursday Logan, Brian and I are planning to have a triple date with our girls at one of the new restaurants that just opened by the beach.
"Should we fetch them at school? Then we can get their cars later or leave their cars at one of our houses, so we don't have to take too many cars." Logan asks while we are at the gym and he is spotting for me on the weights.
Brian, who is standing beside us and drinking water after his sparring match in the boxing ring answers, "I think leaving them at our house is the best, let's text them. I'll tell Tammi to tell Jess bro, so you can finish your set." He says.
"Thanks man," I say with gritted teeth because lifting weights is no joke and I have just increased mine, so yeah. Brian leaves to get showered and change, he comes back as I finish.
"Hey man Jess wasn't at school today and apparently she hasn't been in a while, like two weeks or something." I immediately panic that what if the fever came back and she is in much worse condition than before. I run to the locker room and take my phone out of my bag then call her.
"Baby, what is this I hear that you haven't been attending school for almost two weeks." I say by way of greeting.
"Well, hello to you too." She says.
"Jess, I'm not joking, is it serious?"
"Max, I'm kind of busy can I call you later?" she hangs up on me, wow someone's in a mood.I finish taking my shower and exit the gym and see that the guys are waiting for me by my car.
"Yeah guys I don't think Jess and I will make it, rain check?"
"Yeah no worries man, I just hope that she gets better soon." Logan says, and he seems sincere and concerned. I don't know why the guy has taken a very obvious liking to my girl. Whether its with good intentions or not I guess we shall wait and see.
"Thanks bro, later." I say to the pair of them.
I make my way over to Jess's house. I knock for quite a while, before she answers the door in her sweat pants.
"Max, hi, what are you doing here." She has the nerve to ask me that.
"Why didn't you tell me that you are still sick? I thought we told each other everything." I say leaning on the door jamb since she won't let me in, by the looks of her stance protecting the door.
"I'm not sick, I just have a lot of personal things that I'm going through." Okay this is starting to annoy me, is our relationship not personal enough?
"So, me being your boyfriend am not privy to what's going on in your personal life?" I ask. I really am trying to rein in my temper because I don't want to fight with her while she's sick.
"Can I come in? or do you want to hash this out with Ivy staring at us from her window?" there is no Ivy by the window, but I know that will get her moving.
I enter and then turn around to face her, not letting her enter fully into the door, "Talk to me baby, what's going on?" I try pleading with her because honesty is important in a relationship being successful. If she can't be honest with me then what are we even doing? She's quiet.
"Baby why haven't you been to school lately." I touch her cheek and she deflates and starts crying, I pull her into my chest and let her cry. Once she has settled some, I go to the couch and sit her on my lap and stroke her cheeks.
"Promise me that you won't pity me or anything." She says to me while trying not to meet my eyes. "You know that Ivy's parents are paying for my school fees, right? So, a mistake happened with one of the employees and she bleached Ivy's clothes. So they took that out of my school fees and didn't pay. That is why I'm no longer going to school anymore, because I got excluded." She avoids looking at my eyes.
