The Old Man

There once was an old man. A very old and weary man. Yet he was the nicest man in town. He was a holy man. He loved and worshipped God, and believed everything in the Bible. He followed in Gods footsteps. Every man, woman, and child loved this old man. One day a young man came to town on a black horse. He made a deal with everyone in town. The deal was, he would give them everything they ever wanted and in exchange they answer his call when he needed them. The whole town was happy. They got what they wanted.

Then one day, the young man came back. He called upon several people in the town and they left, and never came back. Weeks passed and he came and went, taking people one by one. None ever came back. Soon the town was deserted and the old man was all that was left. The young man came back once again. This time for the old man. He came upon the old man in a rocking chair drinking a cup of water. He said to the old man "I'll give you whatever your heart desires if you come when I call upon you." The old man was tired and weary of old age. "I am but an old and pain man. What would a young healthy man such as yourself need of me?" The old man asked in a very worn out raspy voice. "I need a wise old man for my army. Someone who knows what they are doing." The young man inquired. "I have been in two wars, I'm a widower, I ache from wars past, I am haunted by the faces of those I killed. You would have me do what tears my soul into pieces?" The old man asked. "What is it you want and I'll give it to you?" The young man begged. "What I want, no one but God can give me" the old man walked inside and the man followed, "what I want is for one day when the whole world is at peace when there is no war, no suffering, but the more I want it the more unlikely it seems. There is always someone dying, crying, lying, cheating, bleeding, or fleeing." The old man sat down while the young one continued to stand. The young man looked at the walls, then at the furniture, and finally rested his eyes on the old man. "I'll leave you be" he began to walk out of the house, "I sure have put you through alot." "So then Lucifer himself came to visit me." The old man laughed. "You truly are a holy man, your father is proud of you." Lucifer said. "I learned long ago, not to make deals with you. That's what I learned from my dad atleast. The one thing he was able to teach." The old man added. "I have given my life to God now and wouldn't want it any other way. I'm sorry Lucifer, but your army can do without me. I'm on Gods side and always will be."
