The sky was a bright shade of lilac as the sun began to sink down behind the horizon, causing the once colorful sky to gently fade into a dark purple. As the air grew colder around her, a gentle gust of wind blew swiftly through the trees and swirled around her causing a small chill to run through her. The clouds rolled through the night sky calmly as the bright light of the moon began to replace the missing light of the sun. Street lights began to flicker on and send out a uniform hum as she walked for a bit longer. She had taken a night stroll to clear her head since she'd been caught up at work a lot more recently and didn't ever seem to have time for herself. She came to a corner store and looked around, there weren't many people out that night so she felt a bit calmer since she was able to relax a bit. The stars twinkled above her as she sat on the slightly cold metal bench just outside one of the shops. She placed her headphones gently onto her head which cut out the surrounding sounds of the fluorescent lighting coming from the signs of the stores around her, scrolling through her music library until she found the right song, Glad it's you by Kate Vogel. That song seemed to make the night a bit brighter as she listened to the melody playing. Suddenly she felt a tinge of sadness begin to pull at her heart as she listened to the words, tears softly forming in her eyes as she rested her head in her hands. She wasn't sure why but tonight the song felt deeper and she gently wiped her eyes as she noticed someone walking past. The individual walked past her not seeming to care much about what she was doing which made her feel a bit better since she hated crying in front of people. She finally decided to head back to her small apartment since it was getting a lot colder and as she stood she checked the time on her phone, 1:45 am. She didn't know it was that late but she shrugged it off and began her not too far walk back although in the dark it seemed to take longer. She put her hands in her pockets to warm them up as she let the music continue to play on shuffle which tended to play her favorite songs and a few she didn't know too well. Unfortunately for her, she had chosen to wear flats out since she thought it would be cute with her outfit so instead of her feet being covered and warm, they were growing colder and colder as time passed so she began to walk faster. Her jeans did shield her from some of the cold and her light blue hoodie covered the rest of her quite well as she lifted the hood up and over her head. In the distance, she could see her apartment complex and with a soft smile she picked up her pace, and soon she was at her complex. She then went into the building and opened the door to the stairwell, skipping up the stairs and to the second floor where she lived. Exiting the stairwell she turned to the left and walked over to her door, hearing some chatter coming from somewhere nearby but she just ignored it and took out her keys to unlock the door. She walked in as the familiar scent of her home came back and she locked the door behind her, feeling a bit tired she opted to just head off to bed and shower in the morning before she went to work. She quickly changed and crawled into bed as her eyes grew heavy and before she knew it her alarm was going off. ____________________________________________________________
