The Stranger In The Cafe

The morning had come rather quickly, her alarm clock showing the time in its brightly light screen. She hit the snooze button and rolled over a bit frustrated but eventually, she just sighed and sat up, wiping her face and brushing some stray hair from her face. She took a deep breath of cool air and let it out as she reached up and stretched her arms before looking at the time. She had set her alarm a bit early today so she could scroll on Instagram for a bit while she ate breakfast and drank her morning cup of coffee. Getting up from her bed she fixed the blankets and pillows correctly before looking down at the floor with a smile, noticing a blue stuffed penguin stuffed animal on the ground. "Blu what are you doing down there? Did I accidentally let you fall off the bed?" She said as she picked it up and dusted it off, placing it gently under the blanket with a satisfied hum. She let out a soft laugh at the sight before going to the closet to pick out her outfit of the day, deciding on some light wash jeans and a light cream-colored turtleneck. It fit well with her bark brown apron she had to wear for her job at the cafe so she felt it would be a cute look. She then made her way to the bathroom to start her morning routine, brushing her teeth before going and taking a quick shower to clean off. She got out and blow-dried her hair as she thought about what she'd do after work today, maybe another walk or maybe she'd go to the store and pick up some snacks. Her hair was pretty dry by now so she turned off the blow dryer and went to get her phone to turn on some music as she finished her routine. Metamodernity by Vansire began to play as she took out her small bag of makeup, choosing to go simple today with only a soft peach eyeshadow with slight glitter and a small bit of blush on her cheeks and the tip of her nose. She decided to pull some of her hair up into a small ponytail, leaving the rest down to fall naturally and finishing the look off with a light peach lip gloss to match the rest of her makeup. She then went back into her room to get dressed before going into her kitchen to fix a bit of breakfast as she scrolled on Instagram. After eating she slid on her white socks and white sneakers, grabbing her headphones and her bag as she walked out the door. The walk to work wasn't a long one so she just played her music as per her usual routine since nothing seemed out of the ordinary for her. Now Nice to meet ya by The Griswolds played as she walked casually down the sidewalk, reaching the cafe she noticed she was the first there again so she began to set everything up and clean before she opened. "Just another normal day at work Olivia, you got this!" She said softly to herself as she cleaned up and organized a few things to make things easier for her. She ended up being the only one able to come in that day but it wasn't really a big deal since the cafe wasn't ever too busy for her so she just put on her apron and her name badge and opened up shop. She hooked her phone up to the speakers in the cafe and began playing Don't you give up by Dansu just as a few of the regulars walked in. She fixed their orders before sitting back behind the counter and swaying to the music that softly played around her. The smell of coffee permeated throughout the small area as she made the orders every so often, no one really standing out of the ordinary until he walked in. He was taller than most of the people and he was wearing a mask and sunglasses and his style sort of matched hers, tan top, light jeans, and a dark brown coat that seemed to tie the outfit together. Olivia shrugged it off and stood up to take his order, noticing he was actually pretty attractive. She smiles at him as she took his order, it was just a simple americano so it wouldn't take long. The tall stranger paid with a card and went to sit at a nearby table as he waited for her to finish making the coffee. As he walked away she noticed his shoes and how nice they looked, she laughed to herself and joked that she should ask him where he got them so she could talk to him more. Soon enough the coffee was made; however, she hadn't decided on whether or not to ask him for the fear he wouldn't want to talk or if he was in a hurry. She quickly made up her mind to just ask, what's the worst that could happen right?
