I closed my eyes per instructions.

He began to count slowly.

3.

I held my breath.

I could feel him inching closer.

I licked my lips.

2.

The word was drawn out in a low voice.

I heard nothing but silence and the faint scuffling of feet.

My pulse quickened.

1.

His lips met mine.

In the effortless, yet heated effort, I chanced a glance up noticing Luke had hung mistletoe above our heads. He told me earnestly to shut my eyes as he gracefully guided me threw the apartment. Christmas was drawing near and for the holiday season we had alcohol, christmas lights and a stack of the seasons greatest movies.

"Alex", Luke whispered. His warm breath grazed my cheek.

I looked up and met his gaze. He was smiling at me. "What?" I asked softly.

He bit his lip. "I love you".

I laughed and pushed his shoulder. "I know." I told him.

He cocked his head back. "How do you know?" He asked, smirking.

"You mean aside from the fact that you tell me every day?" I replied. He nodded to challenge me.

I rolled my eyes at him, which he loved. "It's in the little things", I finally said.

He held out his hand, gesturing for me to continue. And so I did.

"Remember that night we had that really big fight?" I asked him.

He thought it over. "Which time, there are just so many?" he joked.

I ignored him as I remembered back to the night where Luke and I had our biggest fight.

It was late in the week while I was sleeping over a girlfriends house. It was close to eight o'clock when she asked me about a photo. She was describing a scene to me, but I didn't understand nor remember the event she was questioning about. Frustrated with my terrible memory, she handed me her phone, revealing a picture. In the frame was a young man who was so clearly wasted, his eyes glassy and bloodshot. However, it wasn't he she was asking about. In the background I noticed Luke. He was kissing someone. That someone wasn't me. With all our attempts to zoom in, her face was so unfortunately cast in the shadow. Rebecca commented on the date the picture was posted, her eyes sympathetic.

I decided not to believe it, knowing who Luke was. I tried to reassure myself that it was Jai. Although, I couldn't deny that he was wearing the navy jumper I had bought him the previous week. I rushed to call him, just to hear his side. He didn't answer. Rebecca, unintentionally, had planted the seed of doubt after she reminded me that he was the one whom insisted I stay out and have a long weekend out with my friends.

She tossed me my keys, and began to apologise profusely as she helped me grab my things to take with me out the door. I struggled to focus that night as I drove to Luke's apartment. I tried thinking of things to say but I knew when I saw those rich brown eyes, I wouldn't be able to get a word out.

However, when I had reached his house and saw him innocently watching tv, anger surged threw me. I remembered thinking, how could he possibly be doing something so mindless like watching television when I'm loosing my mind. At the sound of my knocking, Luke looked over in my direction and his face lit up.
