Kamu means catch the brides and it is one of the oldest and most interesting events in the Hausa wedding tradition.
To get the bride, the groom’s family negotiates with the bride’Is friends for her release her to them.
This is a really fun event and negotiation may take up to 30 minutes followed by a fun reception.

Aunty sadiya my mum younger sister step on the stage with her all time mc voice that she's really good in it and start the event of the day my face was covered and my friends haggled the groom and his family with a price to see my face.. aunty sadiya was the host and she said to the groom and his family u all know the tradition so I don't have to start explaining so u may step forward let the negotiation start.... It is only when the negotiated price is paid that the veil of the bride is opened she said to my in-laws and they said u may say the price. The right of her friends to be paid for their friends unveiling , I hope you all know that and they said yes then my aunt said the brides best friend should come forward for the negotiation, iman been my childhood sister and friends went out and collected one of the microphone while the other was with his best friend Muhammad, how much are we paying for our bride unveilment and she said is not that easy to call her ur bride he smiled and said ok we are sorry ur friend, good that is better (note:the in-laws are always at loss at what they would expect from the bride’s friends).
It can be a little harder for you iman said because our bride is a ‘special friend’ and she need to be treated special so it won't be as easily as you think, Muhammad said okh you can say it and we will assure u special treatment he said smiling, okh we need 1m,he smiled and said ok we given 1.5m because she's more than special to us she's a queen the crowd shout at the top of the voices and my friends laugh, but iman cut him by saying are u trying to buy her from us, no am sorry if I had mistake by saying that, ok if u think she's a queen then u paying 2m, okh accepted ur wish is my command ma cause I DNT want to make another mistake that may cause is alot, she laugh and said okh, they came closer but she stopped them by saying what are u doing do u think we let u see her face without paying, okh besty please give us the account number,she called out the account number and was immediately credited then aunty sadiya collected the Mick and said we also have a procedure to unveil the bride she ask the groom to move forward and she gave him a black piece of cloth and ask him to cover his face with he did as he was ask then she told him to move to our side and then told him to pick out his wife he came close and started searching and finally he came infront of me and stand then said this is my wife and everyone laugh okh untie the cloth on ur eyes and unveil her let see he untie it then she said for ur information she's not yet ur wife but to be he smiled and said insha Allah and everyone laugh okh now unveil her face let see he came close and stand infront of me and whispered you could not changed ur fragment for today he smiled and unveiled it and everyone wowed he hold my hand and came out then she said to my in-laws u can now spray her.....
His aunty came close to me then collected the microphone from my aunt and said before I spray the milk on her because we are Fulani so we use milk not perfume but before that we also have our family procedure and which is a lady came infront and drop a chair then I was ask to sit on it I sat in it then they dropped a big black tub then she said to me this is ur pride to known how ur in-laws value u and respect u we wont spray u until we have gifted u with so many things... She said starting with the groom come forward and give her ur gift let see he came infront of me and kneel then he gave me an envelope and said take care of it I said thank u moved back and all his friends and relatives came and give me there gifts and went then his aunt instructed me to open my husband envelope and see, I opened the envelope as she said and saw some bunch of keys and a note then she ask me to read the note out
"Dear wifey this are bunch of cars for our new home I want you to treasure it cause it's how u build your home soon it will last so keep them safe...smile"
Okh that's your husband letter to you and he has said it all I hope u build a happy home Ameen so now we can spray u our milk she took a bottle of milk and sprayed them on me then she gave the microphone to aunty sadiya,oh Masha Allah what are great home culture we really appreciate it she said with a little bend and continue with the program she ask my friends to leave the welled decorated place for us and she ask me to sit there with my husband I got up and went back there to sit but before I sat I went inside the room and changed into a ice blue gown designed with pink flowers on it and my makeup was touch and fix my headgear then came back and sat down with him...
**********Abdulyasar POV***********
She came back and sat next to me she looks more beautiful than she was before I said in my heart so Masha Allah but came out as a whisper "you look beautiful" I heard her said thank you before I realized my whisper came out I said oh... I looked at her hand that she use in holding the envelope I gave her and said baby keep them safe cause we are starting a new life together we need to get rid of our differences because our parents have made their own decisions so we can change it I may dislike u and u may hate me but that will not change we are getting married we may live as enemies but we don't plan to live like that for the rest of our lives I no the same thing my dad told me that's what ur dad have told u "live happy with each other" she just stared at me as I talk , I continue uhkti I never thought u will be my wife so do u not even in a dream cause I hate u at first sight( I hate rude and arrogant people and she is) and I no u never liked me not to talk of loving me but we have no option we have to live in it cause the did have been done, I can feel she was crying because her head was down so I felt it she got up and got inside the house she came back after about 12minutes with a red eyes but with a smile on her face am very sure she cried then she said to me u are right abdulyasar the did have been done there's no going back may Allah guide us ,Ameen I said.
Is time for dance since everyone has eaten so lets reduce the heavness of the food we just eat so that we can sleep well she said it in form of joke so now let the couples come up to the dancing stage so that we can play a game before the dance we got up and reach the stage which she requested for two chairs and placing it backing each other then she ask us to sit each on one we did as she said, we going to play a game of sincerity of do u known your partner and everyone shout in excitement ok now let's start
Now the instructions are if it's the bride u both should raise ur right hands and if it's the groom u both should raise your left head, there the game began I was surprised how welled I guess everything about her and how she also did and everyone there was impressed by our sincerity after the game aunty sadiya praised us by calling us sincere love birds and everyone laughed while we kept our heads down in embarrassment there the music began the dj played the first music for us "what God has join together by oloshe femi"and we looked into each other's eyes and kept it down before you no it the stage was full with friends and family everyone dance in joy before someones tears bag was broken "sweet mother" was played as uhkti's mom came in she hugged her mom and cried like a baby her mom also shades tears for her daughter but calm down but this crying baby did not she cried and her aunties took her out and sat her down they tried and calm her down until she stop crying I went and sit beside her I said something to her why are u breaking ur mom's heart by crying like the baby u are but she just smiled and turned her head... The party ended and everyone left for their homes.
We came home with my friends around 11 played some tv games and gistted for a while they teased me saying my wife is really a crying baby and a pet but I smiled and said I love crying babys because they fun been with I said it as a defense but I meant it right from childhood I like pet girls and my best friend Muhammad admit it and they all laughed and said u have gotten one then I smiled and said that's cool for me but they cut me by saying before we forget we have organised a gold and black Eve for the boys and girls so please inform her about it. I hope she agrees because she's a bit obsess okh just inform her what ever the case maybe
