Chapter 8- What Happened To Them

"Eraser! Got your favorite coffee! Pure black with literally nothing else." Shadow Step called. Nothing like a cup of very caffeinated coffee in the middle of the night. 

He carefully handed Aizawa the cup, before quickly dodging a swipe from Aizawa's arm. He gracefully landed back, and smiled. "What's with the hostility? C'mon, I thought we were best friends!"

Aizawa scoffed and took a swig of the coffee. He downed the entire, bitter drink in two gulps. "We may be 'friends', but I'm still a hero. Also, what happened to your other two companions? I've never seen you without them." 

"Wait, are you worried?" Shadow Step teased. Aizawa sighed. "If you're wondering, they're sleeping. I'm patrolling alone because they are sick right now. We're still human after all. Plus I'm trying to find someone, and I think they might be out tonight. Wanna come?"

Aizawa blinked his dry eyes. "Sure, whatever." 

"Great! Let's go." Shadow Step said. He and Aizawa proceeded to run along the alleyways and buildings that lay around, momentarily stopping to take breaks. They ran farther and farther until they finally reached a small building.

"In here." Shadow Step whispered. Aizawa crept behind him as Shadow Step navigated the halls. He peeked his eyes into a door, where there were several voices coming from it. They leaned their ears against the wall, and vigilante held a speech recorder too.

"WHAT THE HELL DON'T YOU GET ABOUT 'DON'T GET INTO THAT KIND OF BUSINESS?!'"

"WOULD YOU JUST HEAR ME OUT?!"

"NO! We're a gang. We are BARELY getting by, man. If you get caught, WHO KNOWS WHAT'LL HAPPEN?! And this 'League of Villains?' WHAT KIND OF LAME ÄSS NAME IS THAT?"

Shouts of agreement went through the walls. Aizawa listened closer.

"THEY OFFERED US MONEY! Listen, they said they would give us a couple hundred bucks for helping out! That's enough for a few days!"

There were a couple murmurs and clinking glasses. Shadow Step clicked off the recorder and signaled Aizawa to the door. Without hesitation Aizawa swiftly kicked the door down with a loud SMASH.

Panick erupted.

"GAH! EVERYBODY SCATTER!"

"THERE IS NOWHERE TO SCATTER BIRDBRAIN!"

"THEN EVERYBODY FIGHT!"

About 15 people came swarming at the two intruders. Aizawa activated his quirk and flicked on his goggles. He grabbed one man with his scarf and kicked him in the gut, while avoiding getting run over by two more. 

"Woah woah! We just wanna ask you some questions! No harm right?" Shadow Step shouted over all the commotion. He punched a man in the stomach quickly and grabbed another guy's arm. 

"What the hell? Why can't we use our quirk?!" One of the gang members shouted. Aizawa looked at him straight in the eye.

"Me, you little shît." He shot forward and punched the man straight in the face. The other people in the room were frozen with fear.

Aizawa flicked up his goggles and grabbed the nearest person. "What is this 'League of Villains?'"

"I-I it's this u-upcoming villain thing! I heard about a-after someb-body m-mentioned it." The guy stuttered. Well, that was pretty easy.

"And who mentioned it?" Aizawa asked threateningly.

"I volunteer at a mental hospital sometimes," he squeaked out. "One of the patients said something along the lines of 'When I get out of this place, I'll kill my stupid son! Maybe even join that dumb League of Villains.'"

Shadow Step walked up to the two. "Which patient?"

"I um.... think h-her name w-was Shinsou Mihoko."

'That dumb boy. Getting himself in danger.' Hitoshi paced in front of the door with a blanket wrapped around him. He should've been sleeping, but insomnia gets you every time. 

The door burst open, and Izuku nearly crashed into Hitoshi. "'TOSHI! Y-YOU WON'T BELIEVE IT! I-"

"Went out on patrol without anybody telling us and ultimately putting yourself in immense danger? Yeah, I can see that." Hitoshi snapped. "What the hell is wrong with you?"

Izuku flinched. "'Toshi.... I'm sorry. It was just, there was this thing that happened, you got sick, but it was valuableinformationsoIjustcouldn'tignoreitand-"

"Just.... stop," Hitoshi said. "I'm even more tired than usual, so just shut up. Tell me what you were going to say."

Izuku gulped. "I know, you wanted to rid everything of your parents, but.... your mother is in a mental hospital, and she's um.... really keen on killing you."

Hitoshi paused. "My...... mother? She's in a hospital?........... Heh..... serves her right." 

Izuku blinked. "That's it? Oh.... I guess I expected more of a reaction...... You  know what? Forget it. Let me tell you about what I discovered after Eri gets better."
