Oh Brothers

Broken.

Chatter and the sounds of moving about wakes her as Kylr raises her head and opens her eyes. For a moment, she's startled but then remembers what happened yesterday and that past night, and she sighs and buries her head back into her pillow.

"I know you're awake, don't pretend." She recognizes the voice of her roomie, Quinn, and dryly laughs. She feels the bed dip where Quinn sits down, and she pulls the covers off of her.

"Come on. They canceled classes, but that doesn't mean you should sleep past noon, even though it's your fault you were up late last night." She says, and Kylr sits up begrudgingly. "Good girl, now get dressed, Lucas and your brothers are over." She stands up and goes to the door, but before leaving, she turns back. "Oh, and Kurt is hitting on Ally." She quickly leaves, and Kylr grumbles under her breath. She quickly gets dressed, fumbling around a lot while finding and putting on her clothes. She feels all of her clothes for things she recognizes that would go together. In a few minutes, she's successfully put on a sports bra, a green tank top, grey-blue jean shorts, and a pair of knee-high cream socks. She feels around for the doorknob, and once she finds the door, she swings it open and leaves her room.

"I swear on the Council if you get with my very first friend, break her heart, and make her hate me, I will kill you, mercilessly and painfully, so much so that the Guard will send me to the deepest and darkest cells in the Grand Prison and Kodi will be left without his favorite sibling for the rest of his life." She says, pointing in the general direction of Kurt, and they all laugh. Kodi runs up to her and hugs her. She hugs him back, and they let go before her other brothers embrace her.

"I'm serious though, break her heart and I'll kill you." Kurt chuckles and slowly backs away from her with his hands raised.

"I swear on our twin bond that I would never get with one of your friends and break their heart." The two of them raise their right hands as if they were about to high-five each other, but instead, they high-five themselves at the same time, and the girls have questioning looks on their faces, including Lucas.

"You guys are twins, and your two heads couldn't come up with a more interesting or cooler handshake than that?" Mel questions, and Kylr and Kurt laugh.

"I got really sick with pneumonia and couldn't be in physical contact with people. We were six, and we made a pact to never leave each other, and since I couldn't be touched, we decided on that as a sort of handshake for the deal, and it stuck." Kurt explains, and Ally sighs.

"Aw, that's so sweet." She says while wrapping her hands around his arm. He smiles at her while Kylr fake gags.

"Alright, how do you know what they're doing?" Quinn asks, and Kylr shrugs.

"Oh, I never told you girls about the fire. Okay, so I can sort of see everything but in shades of red and orange. Randee thinks it's because my other senses are compensating, sort of painting a picture on fire. Any sounds come off as waves of light orange from wherever they're coming from, and the smells make darker shades of orange and red shaping figures like people, or furniture. I'm still trying to get used to it. I can hear every little thing, and it's pissing me off, but Randee says she knows somebody who can teach me to control it." She explains, and the girls' eyes widen in shock. Quinn purses her lips together and raises her eyebrow.

"Really, how many fingers am I holding up?" She holds up her middle finger and Kylr gasps. She quickly slaps her hands over Kodi's and Kurt's eyes.

"How dare you, there are kids in here." They all laugh, and Kurt pushes her hand away.

"I'm only younger than you by fifteen minutes." He complains, and they all laugh when there's a monotone beeping, followed by the Headmaster's voice over the PA.
