Sunlight streamed in from the balcony. The doors had been left open and the breeze was cooling the room. It was too warm of a day but just warm enough that he had kicked the sheets off. Grian yawned, stretching as he rubbed the sleep from his eyes.
"Finally."
Grian lifted his head to give Dom a frown.
He rose from the ottoman. "Morning Sleeping Beauty," he gave him a quick kiss, "Get dressed and head downstairs."
Grian watched him leave, shutting the door swiftly behind him as he traveled into the hall. Grian's eyes swept over the room. He guessed that this was a house the Johnsons didn't use too often because nothing in it screamed Taurtis. The room was open and light, filled with cream to white colored things. It was huge though, about the size of his mother's living room. There was even a walk-in closet and ensuite.
He gave a huff as he sat up. From what he remembered when walking in, this place was huge. How did they expect him to find the stairs? He also didn't know what to wear. Surely he couldn't go out with the suit he was wearing last night. Just as he thought that his eyes caught sight of a neatly folded pile of clothes consisting of a simple white button-up and jeans. He quickly pulled them on and ran a hand through his hair to rid himself of bed-head.
When he opened the door to the hallway, it was empty and going in either direction. Shit.
He tried to think back to last night, but Sam really liked his new piercings... He decided to go right. Worse comes to worst, they'll send someone to look for him.
Thankfully, he found the stairs. Of what he had seen of the house so far, it was big but cozy. It felt like a home instead of a gala like the one they held the party at.
Grian soon discovered that while he had found stairs, it's very possible that he found the wrong stairs since none of his boyfriends were anywhere to be seen. He wandered through what appeared to be the living room, though Grian knew that typically houses this huge had multiple; maybe they called this one the tv room?
He stumbled upon the kitchen. He sighed in relief when he found Taurtis and then immediately stiffened back up when he realized he had blue eyes.
The man gave him a smile as he placed his coffee on the counter, "You must be Grian, right?"
Grian smiled back, "You're Taurtis's father?"
He nodded, "Yeah, and I'm guessing you're looking for him."
"You're so awkward."
Grian jumped, his head whipping around. A girl was leaning against the doorway a few steps behind him. Even without knowing Taurtis had a sister, he would have been able to guess who she was; she looked almost exactly like Alice, but with their father's ocean blue eyes. She was as short as Sam, which was a little strange considering how tall their father and Taurtis were, but Grian realized he had never seen Alice without heels. And while she looked like Alice, she wasn't dressed like Alice. She wore a simple black t-shirt tucked into jeans and converse. Her hair was loose and wavy at her back and she had simple black-framed glasses.
Their father frowned, "I'm not awkward. I just don't know how you kids talk anymore. And I thought you were going to be a gremlin all day."
She rolled her eyes, "I was, but Grammie called."
Her eyes landed on Grian, "C'mon. You're lost, right? They're in the backyard."
Grian wordlessly followed while he tried to remember her name. He had only heard Taurtis mention it once and he knew it was on the invitations, but his eyes had hovered on Johnson and all he could think of was getting to see his lovers again. Maybe he could get away with just telling her thanks and asking Taurtis later.
She led him out glass doors and he spotted his boyfriends longing on a picnic blanket.
Taurtis smiled at him, "There you are."
He smiled back sheepishly, "Sorry. I got a little lost."
Sam batted Dom's shoulder, "See, I told you you should've waited for him."
Dom scoffed, "Well maybe you should have thought of that before abandoning me with him."
Taurtis ignored the two, getting up to take Grian's hand as he climbed down the stairs. He nodded towards his sister, "Thanks, Jay. You're the best."
She waved him off, "Yeah, yeah. Just don't lose him again or else I'm forwarding Grammie's calls to you."
She stalked off back into the house, desperately wanting to get back to whatever she was doing.
Grian turned to Taurtis, "Her name's Jay?"
"Jaycee. She doesn't mean to be rude. She's just working on a project and would rather not be disturbed."
"What's she doing?"
Taurtis shrugged, "Last I was told, she was into Astronomy, and now she's got maps on maps and won't let anyone near her computer."
"Does her nickname have to be Jay though," Sam sighed, "That's going to get confusing."
Taurtis chuckled, "You don't have to call her Jay."
"There are other J's, Sam," J nodded.
Sam flopped back on the blanket, "Whatever. I'm tired."
Dom frowned, "You were the first one to go to sleep."
Sam peeked up at him, "And? You think getting fuck is easy?"
Dom blinked, "No, but you don't see me complaining and I had to endure Taurtis's sex drive for four years!"
Taurtis rolled his eyes, "That was only because we were apart so often and had limited time to spend together."
Dom grumbled to himself.
Sam raised an eyebrow, "I think this counts as complaining."
J sighed, "Don't start."
"We're supposed to be relaxing. Enjoying the nice, sunny weather," Taurtis reminded them.
They didn't seem too happy about it, but they stopped arguing. A silence fell over the group as they continued to seethe. Grian cleared his throat, glancing at J, "You guys just came back from Sweden, right?"
Sam perked, "It was so fun. It would've been nice to go during winter, but it was still great."
Relief passed through the others as the tension in the air dissipated.
Grian resisted the urge to sigh, "So, what did you do?"
Sam was practically bouncing in his seat, "We went to the Vasa Museum. It's in Stockholm and it opened in 1990. There's a sunken ship there that the museum is named after because it sank on its maiden voyage or something like that. Sunken ships are so cool to look at. Like the ocean took that thing down, you now? It wasn't as cool as seeing the Titanic, but-"
Grian smiled, humming along as Sam continued. This is what Grian had missed the most. Sam was lighting the more he talked and getting so invested in his story. J had set aside his book, offering his input every so often. Taurtis was playing with Dom's hair as he leaned on him. It was so peaceful and wholesome that Grian could feel butterflies in his stomach. If this was how he could spend the rest of his life, he'd be a content and happy man for sure.

Hey guys, it's official: Stardew Valley is taking over my life. Why am I like this? Why can't I just like things a reasonable amount? Why do I feel the need to obsess over everything I find? Why???? But it's fine, it's helping me be exposed to he/him pronouns (I got Alex to fall in love with me and I'm just so happy). Though it does bring me back to the dilemma of "What if you're just now a long, drawn out journey to figuring out you're trans?" To which I always respond, "Well, that'll suck. I like my boobs." They're nothing special, average at best, but I like them. I'm a tiny person and I thought I was going to be flat chested, even though, if I look at the women in family, there's no way that could have happened; it was still a worry because people like to make fun of me cause I'm so small, quite, and apparently have no feelings whatsoever, but I won't go into that rant. Anyways, I hope you all have a wonderful day and I'll see you all in the next chapter, Bye~!
