On her 20th birthday, Berkley decided that she didn't want to be her anymore. 

She was tired of existing around the people she knew and living in the idea they had of her. The idea of the shy, soft spoken, timid, opposite of outgoing and any other words you could think of to indirectly and less hurtfully describe her as boring.

 She wanted to go wild, lash out, crumple and break and stomp and spit on the idea of her that existed in other people's minds. 

But she couldn't do that. 

So she did the next best thing. 

She removed herself from those people and went somewhere she knew they wouldn't be. For one night. That night.

She could finally live outside the idea of her, 

and just live as ... her.

Alexis would rather be anyone, but herself. 

People looked at her like she was a walking bad omen, and why wouldn't they? Drama loved her, and the bad kind shadowed her like a silhouette.

Being the center of attention because people are alarmed by your presence isn't the best way to get attention, but hey, at least the spotlight's on her.

She's used to being alone, and being left alone.

But, on her 20th birthday, she wished things would just be ... different, for once.

She wished someone would look beyond the shadow of mischance that shrouded her like a cloak.

After all, you needed light for a shadow.

If only someone saw hers.
