The Unexpected

Our campfire stories have turned into truth or dare. It's around 11 now and no ones tired yet.

"Oh guys! I almost forgot!" Ryker announced.

"What?" Luke asked and everyone chimes in.

"I brought BEER!" Ryker yelled and everyone cheered.

He opened a cooler and everyone got up to grab a beer. The alcohol just made everyone more crazy. I held back on the alcohol and only had one or two, Asher on the other hand, was full on drunk in an hour. He was sliding his words and stumbling all over the place. Everyone else was at the most buzzed, but no one as drunk as Asher.

It was almost one in the morning now and the fire was still going strong. Everyone was mostly having side conversations and still drinking. Nina was trying to get us all to play spin the bottle but Asher didn't want to play.

"No way, no way am I letting Hannah kiss anyone but me, only I get to do that," Asher said.

"What?!" I yelled, "You cheated on me?"

"No, of course not," he said then agreed to play spin the bottle.

We played but everyone just kissed each other on the cheek, until Ashers turn. Asher spun the bottle and it landed on Kylie. Everyone stayed quiet and I was confused. Was there something I was missing? Asher locked eyes with me and just shrugged. Kylie walked over to Asher, put her hands on his neck, and full on kissed him. I didn't think Kylie would do that to me, I didn't think Asher would do that to me. I was in shock, I stood up and started to walk away, but Asher stoped me.

"Hannah, you're over reacting," Asher said.

Noah stood up with anger in his eyes and said, "Shut up Asher, shes not over reacting, if she did that then you'd be angry too!" He yelled.

"It's fine, go get some firewood or something," Asher told me.

"We don't need any, and we need to talk," I said.

"Hannah, I told you to do something, listen to me"

"No, we need to talk Asher!"

Everyone was staring at us and without hesitation Asher hit me. I brought my hand up to my face and I felt tears well in my eyes.

"Asher, not in front of our friends," I told him.

"Not in front of us!?" Harper asked, "He's hit you before!?"

I nodded and started to cry. All of our friends, except for Kylie started yelling.

"I have to punish her for how she acts!" Asher yelled.

Everyone continued yelling but before they could say anymore to me, I ran. I ran deep into the woods hoping no one would follow me. I could hear my friends yelling for me, but I was too far away for them to catch up to me. It was pitch black out and I couldn't see a thing. I stoped and leaned on a tree to catch my breath and I could hear footsteps behind me. Someone was following me. I started running again but tripped in a snake hole. I fell to the ground and could hear whoever was chasing me catching up. I tried getting up after a second, but it hurt too much. After a minute of laying on the ground, I felt a hand grab my arm.

"Get up," I heard Asher say, "you embarrassed me in front of my friends"

"Let me go!" I yelled.

"You don't deserve me, you deserve nothing," he started.

"Let go of her," I heard another voice say.

Asher turned around and let go of me, I crawled back to lean against a tree as Asher spoke to whoever was there.

"Leave her alone, you caused her too much pain," they said, then I realized it was Noah talking to Asher.

"Fine," Asher said then turned back to me, "Hannah we're done," he said then walked away.

Noah ran up to me and crouched next to me, "Hannah, are you okay?"

"Yeah, I think I'm okay now," I said and he helped me up.

We started walking back to where we set up camp, but we had no idea which way to go. It felt like we were walking for hours but we never made it back to camp. We were lost. No food, no water, no flashlights, and no shelter.

"What are we going to do?" I asked.

"We're going to have to sleep out here until morning," Noah said.

And we did just that. We found a clump of trees to sleep under though it wasn't very comfortable. The night air was cold and we had no blanket, when I woke up the next morning, Noah's arm was around my waist and we were closer than we were when we fell asleep.
