Jimin P.O.V

"Goodmorning, I'm Park Jimin. I'm here for my job interview,"

"Take the door on your left and ask for a man named Kim Seokjin. Thank you for sharing an interest in our company," the receptionist smiles softly.

"Thank you," I nod with a smile.

I open the door on my left and see many workers typing on computers. They type in a very fast speed.

This must be the job then, typing on computers all day?

I look around and bump into a tall man with wide shoulders.

"Are you lost?" he chuckles.

"Y-yes actually. I'm u-uh looking for Kim Seokjin," I stutter.

I have no idea why I'm stuttering, it isn't a habit of mine. I guess I'm just embarrassed to bump into someone like that already.

"Well, that's me,"

"You're Kim Seokjin?" I ask.

"Yes, follow me,"

I follow quietly behind him to what seems to be his office.

He sits down and politely asks me if I could sit in front of him.

"You're name?" He asks.

"What?"

"What's your name?"

"Oh, I'm Park Jimin, sir,"

"Sir is a bit formal, don't you think? You can call me Jin,"

"Thank you, Jin,"

"How old are you Jimin?" He asks, continuing the job interview.

"I'm 22,"

"Interesting," he smirks.

He licks his upper lip before asking his next question.

"Do you know anything about our company?"

"Not really, there was little to no information on the job offer. I just read that I needed to call for a job interview if interested," I respond honestly.

"Ahh, that's good. Many who come here tend to lie about that," he says while writing something down.

"Welcome to mydol, Park Jimin," He says with a smile.

"I got the job? So fast?" I ask in a confused tone.

This is strange. Usually, I have to go home and wait to get a call for days. The universe can't be this nice to me.

"Yes, you're hired," he confirms.

Or the universe can be this nice to me after all.

"I can always fire you if you want?" Jin chuckles.

"Not needed,"

"Okay,"

"Now I must tell you about our company 'mydol'."

"Yes,"

"Mydol is a chatbot app. It simulates chatting with your favorite k-pop star. A chatbot is a computer program designed to mimic a conversation with human users. So, to keep the app going, we need workers like you. Are you a fast typer, Jimin?"

I nod slowly.

"Well, that didn't seem too convincing. Don't worry about it, if you're not that fast at typing, we can always teach you," he smiles.

"So, what's my job?" I ask rather confused.

"Your job is to pretend that you're a chatbot. We give you someone to chat with. Now you have to answer like a robot. Sometimes you have to answer very randomly and avoid questions to make your robot role more 'convincing'," he explains.

"So they think that they're chatting with robots, but they're chatting with actual people? Why?" I ask.

"Hiring actual people to chat with them has made things a lot easier, trust me,"

"So, what happens if the person whom I'm chatting with finds out I'm not a robot?" I ask out of curiosity.

"Then you're fired,"

I look down at the floor.

This job is very messed up. I feel bad for the people who think they're chatting with robots.

"Before you get started, I'd like you to sign this contract," he says handing me a single paper.

Normally contracts are at least three papers long, this is strange.

I carefully read through the contract.

I take a deep breath as I read all the rules.

I, Insert name agree to the following rules:

Typing at fast speed

Behaving like a robot

Working at home just as much as working at the company

Respecting the co-workers

Always asking questions when something is confusing

Developing no personal bond with the chatter

Not revealing the company's secrets

Not admitting to being a real person, but admitting to being a robot instead

"I work at home too?" I ask dumbfoundedly.

"You must send at least three messages at home. Whether or not you send more than three is a personal choice," Jin explains.

"You work at least four to six hours a day for payment of 25$ an hour," Jin says.

"25!" I yell out.

"Yes,"

That means I'd earn about 150$ a day.

I write down my name on the contract and sign it.

I read the last words on the contract:

Welcome to mydol.
