Why did you leave? (MewGulf Fanfic Short Story)

Just Us

"Aachhooo" Mew was sneezing badly. 

Gulf shook his head as they entered their apartment, "I told you we're gonna fall ill".

"It was worth it, wasn't it?" Mew replied with a grin.

Gulf couldn't help but smile.

Mew had pulled him to the middle of the terrace. They just stood there for a minute,  holding each other's hands, face turned upwards and eyes closed. They were feeling the rain wash away their worries and pain, everything was just about this moment, it was just pure happiness of being together after what had seemed like an endless nightmare to both.

Mew looked to Gulf, "let's dance!"

Gulf opened his eyes and gave Mew a questioning look, "with no music? I'm not really in the mood of a crazy chicken dance & jumping around you know", he then smiled, "I'd rather just be in your arms and look at you, I have been wanting to do that for so long".

Mew smiled from ear to ear. "As you say, my love." He pulled Gulf close, "I'll sing for you".

Mew sang and they swayed in each other's arms.

"Lift your head, baby, don't be scared
Of the things that could go wrong along the way
You'll get by with a smile
You can't win at everything but you can try

Baby, you don't have to worry
'Coz there ain't no need to hurry
No one ever said that there's an easy way
When they're closing all their doors
And they don't want you anymore

Even if I have to fetch you everyday

Gulf was happy, after so long he felt like he was finally where he belonged. With Mew by his side he could face every challenge that came their way.

They had stayed in the rain for a long time, slow dancing and gazing into each other's eyes.

After having warm baths and changing into fresh clothes, they settled on the couch.

Mew streched his arms to yawn and then sneakily pulled Gulf into a back hug.

"Let's call our offices and ask for a week's leave" Gulf grinned.

"Yes, and then get transferred back as soon as you can" Mew added nuzzling into Gulf's neck.

Gulf giggled, "Ofcourse".

"And let's just spend time together this week without worrying about anything else, we'll have plenty of time to sort things out" Mew continued turning Gulf to face him.

Gulf nodded, "It's gonna be just us, the world can wait".

...

They spent the next few days doing simple things. They were sometimes cooking together, sometimes going out on a date and sometimes just lazing around in their apartment. It wasn't anything grand, but it was blissful just being able to enjoy one another's company.

Soon it was already the end of the week and it was time for Gulf to leave. None of them wanted to part, but with a heavy heart Mew dropped Gulf off at the Airport.

Gulf applied for a transfer back as soon as he returned to his office, but in a week the HR informed him that there were no suitable vacancies there. Mew had suggested that he could apply for a transfer to Gulf's office but there was no vacancy there either. Moreover, Gulf missed his friends too and wanted to be back. So, it was decided that Gulf would look for another suitable job back home.

Meanwhile Gulf and Mew video-called every day and visited each other on the weekends they could manage to. Long-distance relationship was tough and they had their occasional fights, but still their relationship bloomed and they were happy.

They hadn't told their parents about the relationship yet. They planned to tackle that later when Gulf was back.
