Chapter 3
I walked through the clear marble hallways as I made my way to the grand onyx doors. They were heavy alright, but zadi was casted on the doors to make it light for only the Grim Reapers. Otherwise, you would be pushing at a block of black rock for nothing forever.
The wind blew hard, but I wasn't cold. Apparently, the Angel was a pretty good actor. He was clacking his teeth and knocking his legs together. As if he was going to freeze to death. I turned to him and said,
"If this is the best you can do, you should forget going to the Hadar Mountains."
"I'm not cold!"
We were quiet for a few minutes, then when we finally reached the edge of our territory, the Angel started to act strangely. He continued this act for a long while when we crossed the dense woods. Dawn was almost upon us so I quickened my pace since we, Grim Reapers are very weak under the sun.
As we approached the Hadar Mountains, I felt my power weaken a bit, but soon regained it because of the stone Headmaster gave me. When we were hiking up, the Angel broke the silence.
"How powerful are you?"
"Not as powerful as the Headmaster speaks of me."
His face dropped a bit.
"Oh. But what rank are you?"
"Headmaster hasn't told you yet?"
"No."
"3rd ranked."
A grin stretched across his face. He looked up at me and to my horror, he had black sockets for eyes. His skin became wrinkly and brown. His figure becoming more crooked by the moment.
I jumped back and changed into my resonance form, my normal one with Eclipse ready to slice through anything.
"Hee,hee!"
The Angel's laugh was like a unison of a creepy doll. I smirked.
"Not a very pretty form there Angel!"
The Angel's grin grew wider by the second. He lunged at me with unnatural speed, even for a normal Angel. I barely made the dodge. I faded my form and reappeared. Since this is my resonance form, we just fade instead of doing any fancy tucks or flips. I sliced quickly and accurately. Though I was quick, I was a moment too late. The Angel jumped high into the air and landed down hard. He was aiming for me, but I luckily missed. Why are the Angels so hard to defeat now? This pattern continued for a while but even I was getting weary.
Wait, weary?! Oh, no. I looked at the stone Headmaster gave me, there were cracks among cracks lining the smooth stone. I knew I was running out of time so I knew I had to use my last resort. I changed into my special form.
But to do this, I had to undo my seal, thus has to chant a spell.
"I call upon my Grim ancestors to grant me the power that slumbers within me.
I pray to the spirits that dwell within my soul.
I grant you my flesh, my blood, and my bone.
Feast on thy spirit that dwells in the serpent's cave.
Bless the bloody man that lies in the temple.
Unlock thee.
Release Saphiria!"
The Angel's grin flipped upside down. Before he reacted, I sliced him in quarters with Excalibur and Wislumzadi. I was panting. Just changing into this form took a lot of effort. I had to report this to Headmaster! I quickly turned north and began to descend.
Suddenly a black cloaked man appeared in front of me and hit me down back to the earth. When I hit, I tasted the metallic taste of blood and what layed in front of me was the shattered remains of the stone that Headmaster gave me. The force that hit me was probably magnified because of Hadar Mountain's ore.
Dammit. I changed back to my human form and staggered to my feet. I winced at the pain. Probably broke some ribs and a arm. But I can't fail my family and friends, the Grim Reapers. So I took my form again and studied the enemy.
He was a Angel for sure. And he was smirking more like the devil than the Angel. He had raven black hair with numerous piercings along his body he wore all black clothing.
I charged. I aimed for the legs, but it seems that he read my mind. And punched me down. The taste of dirt mixed with the taste of blood and that didn't taste good.
I was cornered like this numerous times, but this Angel was way out of my league. But I can't fail Headmaster. That thought brought renewed energy back within me, so I jumped up and attacked from above. He caught my blade with one hand, and with the other, he grasped on to my neck. Hard. He smirked and said,
"Not bad. You'll make a great slave!"
"What?!"
"You see, I needed more Angels so I devised a marvelous plan to make Grim Reapers turn against each other. So then I created numerous false missions and many of those Grim Reapers were weak. Very weak. My Angels took care of them. But I was growing tired of the weak Reapers. So I sent a Angel to your HQ directly. To choose a worthy enough Reaper to become my servant."
"So that's your plan?! Create more Angels out of my family and friends?!"
He smirked. I was forced to drop my weapon and clasped both of my hands to my neck to somehow release the cold iron hands. He laughed at my pathetic attempt to release myself, and continued his story.
"You do know the story of The Angel War III? Well, almost all of my Angels were annihilated because of the Reapers. They were perfect soldiers. And while I was in hiding, I was researching my Angels again. But this time, I found a solution. Though it doesn't mean that my Angels can repel all Grim Reapers, I can make them Anti-Grim Reapers. I gave them a new name, the Grim Angels."
I struggled aimlessly to try to get myself out of his hands. But now, he has both hands on my neck.
"Why didn't you just stay in hiding?!"
"Because I wanted sweet, sweet revenge. Your kind killed my love, Luciana. She was supportive in my work, until one of your Reapers invaded the lab where my love worked. She begged for mercy but, your Reapers thought it was necessary to slice my love in half."
"Since she was so supportive in your work, we had to execute her! She held too much information on the dark arts! If we let her live, you wouldn't admit that you were in our dept. You would've killed more of our Reapers and make souls turn black, thinking that this dirty deed was for our favor!" I spat angrily.
The iron grip around my neck tightened and I couldn't breath anymore. My vision got blurry. I can't fail Headmaster! Even with the renewed power again, I couldn't get out of his grip.
"Just you wait! My family wouldn't let you get away with this! But even before they find out, I'll defeat your plans and return to them before you know it!"
"Oh! We'll see about that! You're the first most beautiful Reaper I've seen in centuries! I was wary at first when my Angel first sent me a vision of you, but who would've known that you already unlocked your second resonance form! You'll be my master piece! Just imagine your family fighting you!! Hahahahahaha!!!!!!"
The grip tightened once more, and the last thing I remember is being tied up and being dragged away farther, and farther away from my home, by a cruel and wicked laugh...
