"Are you feeling okay?" Yuzu handed me a tissue with a face masked with concern.
I sneezed.
"Allergies." I wiped my nose. "You're so lucky you don't have allergies." We sat down on the leather sofa in our resort room.
It was springtime, and especially with all of the cherry blossoms blooming, they weren't making them any better.
He laughed. "At least you don't have asthma." He pointed to his bag with his inhaler inside.
I tugged Yuzu's sleeve.
"We can still go to the festival tomorrow right?"
He put his arms around me.
"Of course."
-----
I shifted a little in my sleep. My neck sore from sleeping in an awkward position. I rubbed my eyes open, squinting as they adjusted to the sun rays partially blinding me. When did I fall asleep? I still felt the warmth around me as I still was in Yuzu's arms. I glanced at the nearby clock.
11AM. Weren't we supposed to meet someone at 12PM? I fluttered my eyelids trying to file through our schedule in my head.
I nudged Yuzu.
"Wake up, sleepy-head. Weren't we supposed to meet someone at 12?"
"Mmm, yes we are. My sister. She's going to take you out to shop for some stuff for the festival tonight."
He hugged me tighter as if I were a body pillow.
"It's 11."
His eyes flickered open and looked at the clock. He let go of me.
"Shoot, let's hurry and get ready, it'll take a while to get there."
I got up and took the restroom first. I took a quick shower and changed. I walked into the bedroom in our resort. Yuzu half-naked turned around. I quickly covered my eyes as I felt my skin burn. He moved my hands down.
"You okay?"
He looked at me with too adorable of a face.
"Y-yes! Just hurry and put on your shirt!"
"Oh." He turned around and pulled out a shirt from his suitcase and put it on.
"Better?" He laughed.
I put my shifted my weight and glanced away.
"Hmm?"
"Y-yeah."
I grabbed my small cosmetics bag and began to apply my make-up. Something really simple since I was running out of time.
"You done yet?"
Yuzu was sitting at the dining table with a banana, half-eaten. He tossed me a banana for breakfast. I peeled it and ate it. I threw away the peeling.
He was already waiting by the door when I finished packing some stuff in my purse. Phone, wallet, and camera. Some candy if I get hungry. I quickly did a mental checklist. Yuzu opened the door for me, and we left the resort.
To get to where Yuzu's sister, Saya, was going to meet up with us, it takes about 30 minutes to get there. We were pushing through the crowd as we scrambled to get train tickets in time.
"Train to Sendai will be leaving momentarily," rang across the station.
"Oh shoot." Yuzu grabbed by hand as we ran to the train, and we quickly went in. Just in time. We sighed in relief when the doors closed.
The train began to move as we found a seat to sit in.
"We'll be getting off at this stop." He pointed to a red dot on a map.
Half an hour passed quickly and holding hands we get off the train. This station was more rustic. The air was cleaner than the city's and had the scent of grass and dirt. Everybody buzzed around us and many came to greet Yuzu. I bowed respectfully to everyone who greeted him. We called a taxi to go to a nearby mall where Saya-san would pick us up. The mall was modern, yet old. It was comforting to be honest.
"Yuzu-kun! Over here."
He turned around and following his gaze I saw a girl, a few years older than Yuzu, but I could clearly tell they were related. They were both perfect. Yuzu's eyes lit up when he saw her.
"I missed you, onee-san.".
I stood there while they were catching up with each other. They must have so much to go over since Yuzu is almost always overseas.
Saya came up to me and bowed. I bowed back.
"You must be Yuzu's girlfriend. Its nice to meet you. I hope you're taking good care of my brother. He can be troublesome."
She spoke to me in a mix of English and Japanese.
I laughed, "No, not at all." He held my hand.
Saya was extremely nice. She brought us to the shops around town and helped me choose a kimono for the festival.
Walking behind Saya I whispered into Yuzu's ear, "You are so lucky to have a sister like her."
He replied with a smile.
-----
"Hey, can you help me put this on?" I turned around with the blue and gold kimono that Saya helped pick out wrapped around me and I held out the obi belt with my other hand.
He took the belt out of my hand and wrapped it around me waist.
"Raise your arms a little."
I looked his delicate hands tying the belt around my waist. Then I felt him rest his head on mine and his arms wrap around me. I held his arms not wanting to let go.
I still have to put on the hairpiece."
I picked up the blue sakura flower hair piece and made my hair into a bun and slowly inserted the hair pieces.
I returned to our room and Yuzu had already finished putting on his black and grey kimono.
Yuzu looked up and turned his head to the side so close to me.
I laughed a little nervously. "What are you---?"
Before I finished I felt his warm lips against mine.
"You just look so beautiful in the kimono. My sister knows what suits you best."
I smiled, a little red from the kiss.
"You ready to go?"
