It was two days since he started being extra nice. You tried being extra nice to him too, but he was kinda tall to tuck hair behind his ear.

At lunch one day, it was cloudy and it looked like it would rain soon.

As usual, you sat with Sumi, Bokuto, Kuroo and Akaashi. Sumi was dating Kuroo, so it all worked out. Akaashi said "he doesn't have time for the ladies".

You and Bokuto always day side by side, though, shoulders touching. You both ate your bento. Akaashi said he had a study group to do and Sumi said she would going to make out in the bathroom with Kuroo, which made you all laugh. But she was serious.

So it was just you and Bokuto.

After a few minutes of silent chewing, it began to drizzle. You didn't care at first, but the the downpour began.

"Ahh!" You exclaimed, shielding your food.

He went to open the door but it was locked. They must've locked it because of the rain. You two were stuck.

Bokuto took off his jacket and held it over himself. He beckoned you under it. The jacket only covered so much space, so you were up against his body and he was up against yours. (you are kinda short in this fanfic, so your head only reached just below his chest).

You faced him and your eyes trailed up. You two locked eyes for a blissful moment. The pitter patter of the rain was peaceful and you two stood still. His golden eyes seemed endless, and reminded you of melted ingots. Precious and pure as gold.

He was the first to break the delicate silence. "Hey, Y/N. I-I've been meaning to tell you something."

You blushed and the butterflies aroused in your stomach furiously now. "Yes?"

He waited another moment to reply.

"I like you, Y/N."

Your breath hitched in your throat. He liked you. He liked you. He liked you! And you liked him back.

You just continued to stare. His expression turned to a sad one. "I know you don't like me back, I-I'm sorry to ruin our friendship." he looked genuinely upset.

"No no, Bokuto! Don't be upset."

He just gazed at you with sad eyes, but hope flashed in them.

"I like you, too."

He smiled and brought you in for a hug. "That's good. That's really good."

You two texted more often, hung out more often, and he often planted little kisses on your forehead. You sometimes held hands, too. You could say you were dating. You told your mom and she was ecstatic. You were glad she approved.

It was a week until the dance, and at lunch, Bokuto approached you. "Hey," he said, giving you a little kiss on your cheek as he sat down beside you.

"Hi." you scooted closer to him. He smiled.

"So, you busy Friday night?" he asked, biting into an onigiri.

"No I don't think so, why do you ask?"

"Well uh," he motioned over to the Fall Dance poster.

"Oh! Yeah I'll go! That sounds like fun!" you paused. "What's a school dance?"

"It's a celebration where every dresses nice, talks, eats food, listens to music and dances!"

"I-I can't dance..."

"I'll show you! It's not that hard."

You nodded in appreciation.

"So how about I pick you up around 4?"

"Yeah, that sounds good!"

The bell rang and you pecked him on the cheek.

"See ya babe." you said in farewell.

"See ya."

// THE NIGHT OF THE FALL DANCE //

It was 3:30, and you had started to get ready. You put on a white dress and some white heels. You put your hair up in an aesthetic messy bun and some mini gold earrings. You put on a little makeup but not too much.

You checked the time

You checked the time. He should be here any moment now. You gave your mom a a hug goodbye as you waited on the porch.

He arrived in a small black car. He honked as he pulled up. He got out and opened the door for you. He handed you a rose. "M'lady." he said, half joking.

"Thank you, Bokuto." You took the rose and sat in the car. It smelled like mint and was very tidy.

"You excited?" he asked, started to drive to the school.

You nodded solemnly.

"Hey, why so quiet, my dear?"

You shook your head. "I'm nervous."

"About what?"

"Everything. The dancing, the socializing, the dancing?!"

"Hey it's alright! Don't worry 'bout the dancing we can skip that part! Let's just have an awesome time, alright."

"Yeah."

He escorted you out of the car, you were both holding hands as you entered the dance. It was dark with colorful flashing lights and people everywhere. There were tables on the side where the refreshments were. Some people were chatting on the side, some were boogying in the dance floor and others were chugging punch, seeing who could get more in their stomach before the puked (Kuroo).

"So, what first?" you asked:

"Let's meet up with the gang, first."

He led you over to Akaashi. "Where's Sumi and Kuroo?" Bokuto asked.

He pointed over your shoulder. Kuroo was drinking three cups of red juice at a time while Sumi was yelling in his face, banging on the table cheering him on. You couldn't help but laugh.

For a couple of hours, you and Bokuto and others chatted, got some punch (or what was left, at least) and had some fun.

The colorful lights slowly transitioned into a cobalt blue.

"Now to end this wonderful night, it's time for the couples dance." the DJ said coolly.

You froze in place. Bokuto looked at you. "Wanna jump in the fun?"
