Staying Apart

Tae POV

          My time here at the university has been stressful yet enjoyable. It's been almost six months here. I am loving the courses here. Park and Lam have been doing their work surprisingly well. We do go out for drinks and all but I don't hook up. The thought itself repulses me and I am focussed on my studies and how this vacation I can go and meet Tee. He and I talk often. The first two months we talked everyday but with my studies becoming hard I use to fall asleep as soon as I reached my room. He has been doing good in school. Mom told me his grades have increased. I am proud of my baby boy.

         In two weeks I will be done with my exams and all three of us are going home. My parents have told me that we have to talk about something important once I am back. I and Tee have decided to not talk while our exams are going on. I am excited as hell.

******2 weeks later*******

       Here I am standing at the airport with my luggage with my best friends. All three of us are boarding together and from there we go separate ways. After a tiring flight we reached our destination. I bid them goodbye and got a cab to home. Once I reached I ringed the doorbell, my mom opened the door and I was engulfed in a tight hug.

'Baby you have grown thin!' she exclaimed while looking me up and down.

'Mom what are you saying' I chuckled.

'Must be because you don't eat my handmade food.' she just winked at me.

'Can I come in now mom?'

'Yes yes in you go. Your dad is in the study'

      I walked to the study and greeted him. He also hugged me and asked me about my college. We walked to the dinning room. By the time we reached the table I was tackled to the floor. I looked down and saw my nong on me.

'P why didn't you tell me you were coming today'

'Aww nong I missed you too.' I said in a teasing manner

'P!'

'Okay okay baby boy.'

     I stood up with my koala bear clinged on me. I then noticed Tee's parents were here as well. They had an amused look. I greeted them and made Tee sit in his seat. We all ate dinner with Tee rumbling about all the events I missed here. Tee's parents wanted to talk to me after dinner so I agreed to talk with them out in the garden. I was nervous as I wasn't sure how they will react to my feelings. I looked at Tee he had a huge smile. He was shining and trust me it was all I needed to gain strength. I will try my best to talk to them. After dinner I went with them to talk while Tee went to help mom with dishes.

Tee POV
  
   Seeing PTae after so long was thrilling. I have missed him. I know he has also. My grades have increased and I have also received many awards for my skills of playing the piano. I have a competition coming. P won't be here in town when it happens but the only good thing is the finals is somewhere abroad. When I see P and my parents going out I look at mom (PTae's mom) she just smiles and reassured me that it was nothing serious. PTae's dad also went behind them. I tried to keep my mood away from their talks but I was just too curious. Then I went up to my room to complete my worksheets.

Tae POV

     After we all were seated my parents also joined us. They all just looked at each other and I started feeling nervous.

'What is it that you all wanted to talk about?'

'We want to talk about Tee' my dad said

I grew concerned and went rigid in my seat

'What about him dad?'

'See child we know you have feelings for him and so does he. But what we aren't sure is about the depth of them. Now that you have shifted we wanted to ask a small favour from you.' Tee's mom said.

       I just stared at them not understanding the situation fully. I looked at all four of them. They look more troubled than me. It must be something big

'Okay aunty what is it?'

'We want you to not converse with Tee'

'What!' I asked with wide eyes

'We don't want you to talk to Tee till he graduates' Tee's dad said plainly.

'You all know about our feelings and want to separate us. I am done.' I got up and started walking when I heard my mom speak

'Do it for Tee.' I turned back to face them. 'We know Tae you love him but can you give him time and let him enjoy his high school. He is planning to take music as his career and we want him to excel but it feels like he is tying himself down with the promises between you two. He wants to go where you are and not where he should be.'

              They all looked at me apologetically and with hopefulness in their eyes. I took a deep breath and thought about it. I sat on my chair. I want Tee to pursue what he wants. I went from here for my dream career to come true. How can I be the reason for him to not go after his! If this way he can get what he dreams of I am ready for it. I want him to be happy. I will wait for him and will give him the time to do what he wants. Our parents are right we need to separate so that he can be happy. If he still loves me when I ask him after his graduation I will still be waiting for him. I am ready to go through the pain for him to achieve his goal. I heaved a sigh and spoke.

'Okay I'll do it but I don't want him to know about our conversation. I won't tie him down with any promises. I will tell him something myself.'

      They all looked at each other with a kind smile and turned towards me and nodded.

'Whatever you think is right, do it. We will not say a word to him' Tee's dad said

        They all just hugged me and went inside. I have to think of something to tell Tee. I will take him on a date before I leave and tell him that will be a good idea.

           The rest of the vacation went in all fun activities. All six of us enjoyed ourselves to the core. We went bowling, movie nights and also had a bonfire where my and Tee's friends were invited. His smile was never leaving his face. I felt bad that I was gonna break his heart. The last night I asked our parents permission and took Tee to our hill date. I had arranged a late dinner there itself with the help of my friends. We both ate and he told me stories about everything that happened. When we were sitting on the car roof enjoying the view I decided to speak.

'Tee'

'Hmm'

'I don't want you to wait for me.'

He turned towards me with no emotions in his eyes. 'I don't understand P'

'I don't want you to wait and just enjoy your life. Pretend that the night here never happened.' I had thought he would have tears and will yell at me but all he said to me was,

'P take me home'

     We drove home in utter silence. As soon as we entered the house compound. He jumped out and went towards his house and entered without looking back. I just stared at him before walking in my house towards my room. I laid on the bed and tried sleeping but couldn't. I just wasn't able to sleep. I was up early the next morning. I made breakfast for everyone. Even Tee came with his parents but he didn't even spare me a glance. Once the time of my departure came we all went to the airport. Tee hadn't spoken a word to me since last night. I bid everyone goodbye once we were near the gates. I stepped forward to hug Tee only for him to step back. Even Park and Lam were shocked due to Tee's behaviour. I decided it was for the best and just ruffled his hair and went ahead. I didn't had the courage to look back. I knew I had done the deed but was I ready for the consequence of it? Maybe maybe not!
