In Another Life

Prologue

"Good evening,"

"Good evening sir, reservation under the name?"

"Agustin. David Cole Agustin."

"Okay sir, we'll serve your meal in 10 minutes."

"Thanks," ngumiti ako.

Naglakad naman ako papuntang banyo nang bigla akong may nakabungguan.

"Ouch! Hey!" 

"Aray!" Sabay naming reaksyon.

"I'm sor-," nanlaki ang mga mata ko.

"Cole,"

"Hi... baby."

We stood there looking at each other like we used to 7 months ago.

"Hey," her voice broke.

"Hey," I smiled.

"What are you-"

"Love, what's taking you so long?" Selena grabbed my arms.

"Oh," she uttered.

"Sorry. I was uhh, oh this is Natalia," 

"Hi! I'm Selena, Cole's girlfriend." she offered her hand but Natalia just looked at it. "I'll be at the table," Selena said.

"Okay love," I smiled then looked at Lia again.

"Hey," 

"Can we talk? Just for a few minutes?" she asked.

"Sure."

Naglakad siya papunta sa balcony at sumunod naman ako.

"So uhh, it's been what? 7 months?"

"I think so. How are you?"

"I'm still alive and trying... trying to pick up myself where you left me." she smiled.

"I'm sorry." I couldn't think of anything to say. I hurt her. I broke her.

"Oh it's fine. Looks like you made it without me," I saw the pain in her eyes.

"Look Lia, you don't deserve me. I'm an asshole, a stupid guy and I don't deserve an angel like you."

"I wish you realized that sooner, not now. Not after 8 years of being together."

"I'm really sorry baby." A tear escaped my eyes.

"Why is it always 'I'm sorry' and 'You don't deserve someone like me' when it can be 'I love you' and 'I'll be better for you'?"

"Because I will never be better, Lia. I always screw things up and break people apart!" 

"Then stop doing that... just, please. Come back to me, please?" she looked at me and held my face closer to hers. "We can try again and go back where we left off. You promised me that you'll stay so come back and fucking fulfill that!"

"Hey shh, stop crying." I hugged her.

"Please," she cried.

"You're making it hard for me, stop crying." I cried with her while we were still hugging each other.

"Is it really the end of us?"

"I can't answer that."

She hugged me tighter. Like she wouldn't ever let go.

"Listen to me, find a man that can love you as much as I did, a man that can complete you and fix all the parts that I broke. And even if I am not that man, you are still the girl I'm gonna tell and brag to my future kids."

"Be that man Cole. Be the father of my kids. Be the man waiting for me at the end of the altar."

"You are and will always be the best thing that's ever happened to me Natalia Amber. Call me the worst but there is a place for you in my heart where nobody can ever replace." 

I took her hand and broke off our hug.

"No! Let me hug you, one last time."

She hugged me so tight so I hugged her back. 

I could hear her cries and feel her pain.

I broke off our hugs once again and kissed her. As our lips touch, our tears slowly fell down our cheeks.

"Even if I walk away, you will always be my greatest love."
