"The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain."  - Dolly Parton

Spencer's P.O.V.

4 days have past since I last saw, let alone heard from Emma. I was so distracted while we were together, I had completely forgotten to ask for her number. The only thing I had was her business card and I didn't exactly have any time to call and ask for her personal number. The case we had just finished was tiring to say the least but it ended on a good note since we were able to save two of the victims.

Morgan and Emily have been trying to ask me if I've met up with Emma and if I did what happened, but I've been able to avoid answering any of their questions so far. When I came in with the pastries she gave me everyone was excited.

JJ was the one to point out it was from one of her favorite cafes. She even asked if I remembered her taking me there before and of course I had answered yes. I told her I just happened to be passing by there and grabbed some while I was on my way to the office. I mean it wasn't a complete lie.

Technically it was all the truth just missing some minor details. I thought to myself. She went on about how young and successful the owner was and that caught Emily's attention. They continued talking and I tuned them out a bit, but I can hear them making plans to visit.

Right now we're still on the jet on our way back home. Hotch had said we were free to go as soon as we landed and to turn in our paperwork later tomorrow. I was hoping to stop by Emma's cafe... Hopefully it wouldn't be too late. Today the cafe is supposed to be open until 11 pm if I remember correctly. Right now it was a little after 8, and we should be landing in about 25 minutes or so. I could probably grab a shower... I thought to myself.

We had just landed and I was moving quickly to grab my things to leave when Emily and JJ stopped me to ask if I wanted to join the team for a few drinks. I declined quickly saying I already have plans. Probably too quickly. They looked at me confused but then Emily's face had changed into one of understanding and she smiled.

I could hear Morgan say "Pretty boy has a date." This caught Hotch and Rossi's attention and they turned to face me. I felt my cheeks heat up a bit but I tried to remain calm and look at everyone bored.

"I'm leaving. Bye everyone. Have fun tonight." I said while exiting the jet.

I heard Rossi say "Have fun yourself tonight, but trust me no kids!" I chuckled and continued walking.

I had gotten home and took a shower and was now looking at myself in the mirror. Do I look like I'm trying too hard? I asked myself. Maybe I shouldn't have showered and changed... Wait no I didn't want her to see me all sloppy and think I don't care. I ran my fingers combing through my hair to make it neater. I don't want her to see me as not well put together. I glanced at the clock.

"Shit!" I cursed before running to grab my stuff. I quickly left my apartment barely even locking my door. It was now 10:24 and it would take me 20 mins to get there by train. Which now leaves me late and with barely enough time to get there.

I'm practically heaving when I get in front of the shop with only five minutes to spare. I take a deep breath to relax my breathing and look around at the empty store through the windows. The lights were dimmed a bit to give the store a more relaxed feeling, but bright enough to see very clearly. I glance at my watch as I enter the cafe once I get my breathing under control. It's 11... At the sound of the bell ringing when I enter, Emma emerges from the back not looking up as she wipes her hands dry.

"I'm sorry but we are pretty much cl-" She cuts herself off "oh, Spencer! Hi!" she said caught off guard. I smiled slightly flipping the sign on the door to 'Sorry We're Closed!'.

"Hello, I'm sorry I know it's late but I wanted to see you." I said quickly, explaining myself. She smiled.

"I'm assuming you just got back from a case today?" She asked and I nodded.

"Yeah it was tiring but it ended on a relatively good note." I answered back after releasing a relieved sigh. She gave me a sympathetic look and gestured for me to take a seat and I did. She walked away and I followed her movements with my eyes.

"Not that I don't appreciate you being here Spencer," She started but then she turned around and asked "Coffee?" to which I mumbled a small yes as I nodded. "but shouldn't you be at home resting or perhaps drinking with some coworkers celebrating?" She asked me while making the coffee.

"I- uh, well," I began stuttering out. "Wanted to be with you." I added simply. She paused her movements and quickly turned to look at me shocked. She cleared her throat and turned back to the cup of coffee in her hands. She remained quiet and brought the coffee and some pastries along with her to where I was seated, and sat down in the chair besides me.

"Has anyone ever told you that you have a way with words?" She asked me softly. I chuckled.

"Quite the opposite actually. I tend to ramble a lot and that usually annoys people." I said bitter-sweetly remembering the many times I've been told to stop talking mid rant. She reached for my hand and surprisingly I didn't pull away from her touch.

"I would never tell you to stop. I like when you ramble." She said gently and went to pull her hand away, but I grabbed for it and stared at her face. I saw no traces of deceit coming from her. Her statement was genuine and she was being sincere. I in turn gave her a genuine smile and gave the hand that I held a slight squeezed.

After that we chatted while I drank my coffee and we shared the pastries she brought along with it. We caught up and talked about how our days were when we didn't see each other. Once we were up to date with what was happening in our lives. It was after 1 when we began to head out. She offered me a ride home to which I accepted, apparently we lived really close to each other, so I wasn't even out of her way.

This time before we parted we exchanged numbers.
