Y/N's POV

"Oh no," Nico said. "Is he back at the house? Did you see him?"

"No," I replied, grabbing my head and closing my eyes tightly, trying to remember if I saw Pan there when Wade took me to Nico. "Do you think he's still in Tartarus?"

"We have to go back to him if he is," Nico noted. He stood up and grab my arm, pulling me up gently. He placed his other arm around my waist to help steady me. "But first, we should look back at that house. Just in case."

"Alright," I sighed. We just escaped, and honestly, I wanted to sleep more than anything. It was selfish, and I know I should be prioritizing Pan, but I was so tired.

Nico obviously noticed my glum expression and placed his cold hand on my right cheek, staring directly at my eyes. I leaned into his hand and closed my eyes.

"I know, Y/N," he whispered. "But we can't just leave him. We need to figure out what's going on with Zeus, and Pan can give us some answers. Plus, he's a god."

"I know," I replied, opening my eyes again, staring directly into his dark orbs. "I just wish this would end. I'm sorry, Nico."

"It's not your fault," Nico reassured. He placed his lips against mine and then pulled away, giving me a small smile. I smiled back, thankful for his company. "Now, c'mon."

---

I tied Nico's hands up again right outside the door, and walked inside. I nearly gagged when I breathed in that horrible familiar smell. Nico's face was filled with disgust when he inhaled the scent too. I walked towards the room I left Wade in earlier and saw him eagerly sitting on a chair.

"You're back!" he exclaimed, giving me a huge smile. Most of his teeth were missing. "Wait, where's the stuff for the cake?"

"We got lost and I don't know where the market is," I lied. "Do you think you could go instead and get the stuff?"

"Oh, sure!" he said, standing up and grabbing a backpack beside him. It was torn and dirty, just like everything else in this house. "What do I need?"

"Well, you need flour, butter, vanilla extract, sugar, sprinkles, for color, and I think that's it," I said. "Do I need anything else?"

"Eggs and milk," Nico said, looking at Wade and giving him a fake smile. Wade frowned at Nico and then walked away.

"I'll be back!" Wade said before leaving the house.

"Ok, I'm going to look for Pan," I said, untying Nico. "You go upstairs, I'll check down here."

Nico nodded and went up the worn stairs. I looked around at the bottom floor. I walked into the living room. The carpet floor was dirty, stained with blood, orange juice. and milk. It smelled like something was rotting in here, which was most likely the case. The velvet couch was knocked over. There was stacks of trash in the corner beside an old square T.V.

I walked past it and went down a hall. At the very end there was two doors. I opened the one to my right, revealing a bathroom. The sink was horrid, and the toilet was probably the nastiest thing I'd ever seen. I plugged my nose with my index finger and thumb, closing the door behind me.

I opened the other door. It was completely empty except for a small figure curled in the corner.

"Nico, I found him!" I yelled. I rushed to Pan, ignoring the pain in my leg. I knelt down beside him. He looked up, horrified. "Are you okay?"

"Y-you're that girl," Pan said, looking relieved. "I thought I heard you earlier. Where's the boy, Nico?"

"Right here." I turned and saw Nico walk in, holding two bags. "I found a few old bags with nectar and ambrosia."

He handed a slice of ambrosia to me and Pan. I took a small bite, sitting down and already feeling the pain in my leg fading away. Pan took a bite too, but just like before, it didn't seem to work. Nico looked at me worriedly.

"Zeus must be doing something to prevent me from healing," Pan said, putting down his arm.

"I still don't understand why Zeus would do that to you," Nico said.

"Me too," Pan replied bitterly. "I need to find out what I did wrong."

"I'm back!"

Nico's eyes widened. "Sh-"
