Valentine's Day, the day that Arthur absolutely and utterly despised. Well over the past two years, Arthur has grown to enjoy the holiday a little, now that he had someone to spend it with. He used to hate walking down the street and seeing people handing their significant others boxes of chocolates or roses, even seeing the occasional confession or proposal. It was when Arthur would see things like that, that he truly felt lonely.

After a while he got used to the feeling but still hated the holiday. But like I said before, he doesn't hate it as much anymore. Arthur Kirkland now has Francis Bonnefoy to spend his Valentine's Day with, and he enjoyed it. Not that he would ever admit it.

Every year Francis would do something amazingly romantic and sweet. Arthur felt so loved when he was with Francis, but would rarely let it show. The previous year Francis came to Arthur's house, in the pouring rain and poured his heart out to Arthur. He confessed and told Arthur how he has loved him for years now. Now of course Arthur at the start thought it was some kind of sick joke but when he realized Francis wasn't kidding, Arthur tackled him with a kiss.

This year is going to be a surprise, that was for sure. Arthur didn't know what to expect but he knew it was going to be something way over the top and extravagant. This year is special, not only is it Valentine's Day, it is also their one year anniversary. Francis originally thought of Arthur and him taking the day off but of course they had to work, and countries can't skip work unless they are very sick or injured.

They started the day like usual, Arthur waking up first and Francis following not long after. They both got dressed and brushed their teeth and hair, then Francis went downstairs to cook breakfast, Arthur following. Francis would always cook because he didn't want his kitchen to be set on fire, and he was an amazing chef.

After breakfast, sharing a few kisses during it, they would go to work. Once at work they both walked to their seats and tried to listen as he meeting droned on. They were sitting beside each other today and Francis gently placed his hand on Arthur's thigh. Arthur tried to hide his smile and simply moved one of his hands under the table and intertwined his fingers with Francis's.

Francis had to leave early today leaving Arthur alone, he apparently had a "meeting." today which Arthur thought was strange because they always make it a point to never have meetings with their bosses on days where they have a UN meeting. "Mon chér, I have to go. I am very sorry but please don't be upset." Francis said to Arthur at their lunch break. Arthur sighed at the thought of being alone on Valentine's Day again but nodded nonetheless. "I'm not upset. Go ahead, I guess I will see you at home." Arthur replied, sadness obvious in his tone of voice.

When Francis heard that tone of voice it made his heart ache. He knew Arthur was disappointed and he didn't want to leave him but he had to go set up their Valentine's Day celebration. With a small smile and kiss to Arthur's forehead he left, but not before placing a note on the wall. Arthur noticed this and was immediately curious.

After 2 more hours of different countries talking and making their speeches, the meeting was finally over. Arthur quickly packed up his things and fast walked over to the note. He looked at it and grabbed it off the wall. 'Je t'aime." It read. Arthur was very confused but turned it over, it had something written on the back as well 'where we first kissed.' it took Arthur a couple minutes but then he realized that France was talking about his house.

Arthur closed his eyes and sighed wile sitting down in the cab he finally managed to get. Damn Rush hour. Lucky for him the UN meeting was held in England his time so he didn't have very far to go. Once he got back to his house he grabbed his stuff and walked up to the door, fumbling with his key for a few seconds then finally managed to open it.

Arthur stumbled into his house and placed his stuff down at the door. He took off his coat and boots then grabbed his brief case again. He walked into the living room and placed his brief case on the couch. Arthur almost sat down, then stopped when he felt strong arms wrap around him. He didn't worry because he has felt those arms around him too many times to think it was a robber or something.

Arthur leaned back into Francis's arms and heard Francis whisper into his ear "Mon amour, come with me into the kitchen." Arthur just nodded not wondering what his frenchman was up to. He just followed Francis into the kitchen without question, however once he got into the kitchen he gasped.

There on the kitchen table was a beautiful rose bouquet and perfectly cooked fish, along with a small croissant on the side. Francis ushered Arthur to his seat and held out the chair for him, letting Arthur sit down before pushing his chair in. Francis took his own seat across the table from Arthur and smiled sweetly " happy Valentine's Day mon amour." Francis said watching a smile slowly grow on Arthur's face. " thank you, Je t'aime." Arthur whispered as Francis's smile grew wider " I love you too." he said and leaned over the table, kissing Arthur sweetly and passionately.

(Yay. I finally did a Valentine's Day one. also je t'aime means I love you and mon amour means my love.)
