'Slash'
The arrow pierced its target's thick skin smoothly.

'Slash'
A second arrow wheezed past the first one to stab the body of another target.

A series of arrows later, the green field was clear of all wild boars with all of them lying dead on the ground.

"Hail Rajkumari Kunti!"
"Rajkumari Kunti ki Jai ho!"
-People were chanting.

"The boars will no longer damage your crops. May the Gods bless our King for his good deeds."- Kunti said.

'Raja Kuntibhoja ki Jai."- people began chanting.

Kunti whipped her horses and turned her chariot back towards the palace.

Her work here was done.

On her way back to the palace, Kunti came across a Rishi lying unconscious on the roadside.

She stopped her chariot, took some water from the pot and got down on the roadside.

She walked up to the Rishi and sprinkled a few drops of water on his face, careful not to touch him in any way.

The rishis and munis usually have an oath of celibacy and they prefer dying instead of being touched by a woman, so Kunti was very careful to avoid any contact with him.

A few minutes of sprinkling water on his face, woke the Rishi from his unconsciousness.

"Pranam!
You were lying unconscious here on the side of the road.
You also seem to have a few injuries on you.
If you will come on my chariot, I will take you to King Kuntibhoja and get you treated."- Kunti said to the Rishi.

"Who are you putri?"- He asked.

"I am Kunti, daughter of Kuntibhoja."- Kunti replied.

"You are very kind my child. This kindness is your strength as well as your downfall.
Your life is full of thorns my child!"- The rishi said.

"What are you saying Guruji?"-Kunti asked.

"A sunstroke made me unconscious and I got a few injuries from the impact with the ground.
But this was not because I was dehydrated, as I had taken my fill of water from my last stop.
But this happened because this was my destiny to meet you here today."- he said.

"Destiny? Forgive me Gurudev but a kshatriya believes only in his or her Karma (Action)."- Kunti spoke.

"You have a lot to learn my child!
You have been very kind to me. Ask for something in return."- The Rishi said.

"No Gurudev. I desire nothing. And it was my duty to help you."- Kunti replied.

"I know you will not ask for anything. But when Rishi-munis are impressed with somebody they give them boons.
I will give you a boon which you will desperately need in your unfortunate life."- The rishi said again.

He then took some water from his vessel into his palm and closed his eyes chanting a few hymns.

Kunti was attentively watching the whole scenario.

The rishi then threw the water over Kunti's head.

"Whenever you will revoke this meeting with me, the mantra will automatically come into your mind. Use it to fulfill your purpose my child."- The rishi said.

"I am grateful to you Gurudev."- Kunti said.

"No my child. This boon will bring you joy but will also be the cause of your sufferings. Use them wisely."- The Rishi chided her.

"Ji Gurudev. And what should I tell my father about this meeting Gurudev?"- Kunti asked.

"Tell him that you helped Rishi Durvasa. He will understand the rest."- The rishi said and walked away on his path to a new destiny.
