Nobody really knew what happened on Friday.
He seemed fine during school, and even before he went out on a snack run he was fine. When he came back from the convenience store however, he looked a little messy and pissed off. He moved too quickly for them to get a good look at him, the only thing they really saw was his torn uniform and... dirt? all over his face, and something running down the back of his head.
Kaminari tried to stop him, ask him what happened and get a closer look only to be outright ignored while he made a beeline to his dorm room.
He ignored everyone that weekend.
He ignored every concerned text and phone call he received. He even ignored the entire squad when they went up to his room the day after, pounding on the door to get his attention.
"OI EYEBAGS! OPEN THE FUCKING DOOR"
Bakugo almost broke the door down and had to be dragged behind the rest of the group. The last thing they wanted to do was scare him into not talking.
They decided to all spam his phone with messages at once, hearing his notifications going off like a machine gun through the door. After a while he sent back a simple "I threw up at the corner store. I'm sick. Leave me alone."
They believed him.
Kaminari had some suspicions, but he figured that if something bad happened he would've told them, right? After all he's not exactly a closed book, at least not towards him.
The squad's anxiety grew over the weekend when they realized he hadn't come out of his room a single time. Not even to grab food.
They tried again to go to his dorm room to offer him some food, and briefly considered letting Bakugo have his way with the door when he didn't answer again. After some more spamming, he just said he had some food in his room.
They were a bit more hesitant to trust him this time, but again decided to drop the subject until Monday. After all, Mr. Shinsou "perfect attendance" Hitoshi wouldn't miss class if he had a gun to his head. When he came down with the flu earlier in the year, Aizawa had to drag him back to the dorms by his shirt collar. He was too determined to become a hero to let anything, even a bad fever get in the way of becoming a hero. Right?
Well guess who's seat was empty come Monday.
Now the entire class was worried, including Aizawa. When asked, they finally told him what they saw on Friday and about Shinsou's isolation. To which he headed straight to the dorms, telling Nedzu to send in a substitute on his way.
He had a very, very bad feeling about this.
He knew Hitoshi struggled with depression and anxiety, and has even been suicidal in the past. He was understandably worried when his student suddenly isolated himself without telling anybody why. He was kinda pissed that none of the students thought to tell him over the weekend. Who knows what kind of state he'd be in when he found him? What if he was injured? What if he self harmed or tried to kill himself?
He shook the thoughts from his head and knocked on the door. "Hitoshi, it's me. Open the door."
Silence.
"Shinsou Hitoshi, let me in."
Nothing.
Now the panic was really starting to set in. He hurriedly pulled out his keys and unlocked the boy's door, practically slamming it open.
Hitoshi was lying in bed, blankets pulled around him while his bruised, tear stained face stared blankly at the wall, completely motionless.
Aizawa gently shut the door behind him, slowly making his way over to the boy, before sitting on the bed beside him.
