I watched as yet another ball ricocheted off my forearm and into the corner of the gym, far from where I was aiming.

I groaned, attempting to ensure that my next words didn't come out as whiney as they sounded in my head. "Why is this so difficult?" I did no succeed.

Yamaguchi merely chuckled, tossing a volleyball in his hands before setting it back into the cart which had a dwindling supply of balls.

"Probably because one of your arms is higher than the other," he explained, getting into a passing position that looked so natural when he did it. Yet I, on the other hand, always felt stiff and awkward. "That's why everything is going over there, because it's only bouncing off one arm."

I raised a brow. "And you waited so long to tell me this because..?"

He grinned, somewhat sheepishly. My heart skipped a beat and even before he opened his mouth I had decided whatever he was about to say was a perfect answer to my irked question. "Because I wanted to see if you could figure it out on your own."

"Oh," I found myself smiling. I had decided a while ago that his happiness was infectious. "I appreciate that you that I was smart enough to figure that out."

Yamaguchi's face became hued with red.

Sadly, I never got to hear whatever response he had due to the gym door sliding open. Tsukishima, who up to this point I have had no interaction with, walked into the room. He casually set down his water bottle before changing his shoes.

"Hey, Tsukki," Yamaguchi greeted, waving a hand.

"Hi," Tsukishima replied, glancing up at us as he tied the laces into a bow. "What are you two doing?"

The question came out mildly condescending but Yamaguchi never skipped a beat. "I'm teaching her how to play volleyball."

"You play volleyball?" Tsukishima asked, raising a brow. "Or is that just an excuse to hang around Yamaguchi?"

I flushed a little. "I don't play and don't need an excuse," I said quietly.

As Tsukishima scoffed a little, Hinata came bounding into the room. Shortly after him came a pouting Chiyo.
