"Brynna. Can we please just talk?" Alex was walking beside me on my way to my third period class, trying to keep up with me. I've been walking faster now so I don't make contact with people.
"Why do you want to talk to me so badly?" I asked him, dodging people, keeping my books close to my chest.
"I wanna talk to you about the other night."
"Why?"
"Because I do. Do I have to justify everything to you? God, you act like were dating." He finally stepped in front of me to block my way. He had a devious smile across his face, and he started laughing.
"Don't joke about that. We will never be a couple." I shoved him out of the way with my arm.
"I was kidding, Brynna. Calm down." He caught up with me again.
"Is there sometime you'd actually be willing to talk to me?" He asked me as we approached my class.
All I wanted was for him to leave me alone. Maybe if we talked, he would.
Reluctantly, I took out a small piece of paper and wrote my address on it.
"I have a lot of make up work to do tonight since I didn't go to school for a while. Come over after school and we can talk then." I slipped the paper on his book before going walking into my class.
Sitting in the back of the class, like I normally do, I set my stuff down right as my phone vibrated in my pocket. It was a Facebook message from Alex.
"If this is a fake address, I'm gonna be pretty upset." I read. I smiled, laughing a little, knowing that I probably would have given him the wrong one if I was smart enough.
"Its not. Don't worry." I messaged back. I noticed he'd seen the message right away and started typing.
"Good (;"
"Why the winky face? That's creepy. Don't do that."
"(;"
"Ew stop."
"You stop."
"Stop what."
"You know what you're doing."
"Um not really lol"
"You're flirting with me."
"Definitely not flirting with you."
"Are to."
"You sound five."
"Awesome (;"
"Just meet me at my house, ok?"
"Okay. (;"
"You're gross."
"I was only kidding. Calm down, silly girl."
"Silly girl?"
"Yes"
"You're relentless."
"One of my many qualities."
"Thats not necessarily a good thing."
"I know that."
"Okay." He saw it, but didn't respond for a couple of minutes.
"What time do you get home?" He messaged me 10 minutes later.
"Like 2:45."
"Ill be at your house at 2:45."
"Okay."
"Unless you want me there sooner (;"
"Why would I want that? Ill be at school anyways."
"Wow you are really bad at taking jokes."
"Our sense of humor is just different."
"Maybe that's a good thing."
"Okay?"
"Okay hahaha."
"You're so confusing."
"Am not."
"Again, you sound five."
"Again, awesome."
"Ill see you later."
"You don't wanna keep talking to me?"
"Not really. I'll probably get in trouble with my teacher."
"Be a rebel (; I mean, isn't that what you're doing right now? Being a rebel and talking to me while you're in class. By the looks of it, you're already halfway there. You just need to get in trouble first and then talk to me anyways (;"
"No thanks. Bye Alex."
"See you later, silly girl." I rolled my eyes at his name for me and smiled a little bit.
There was something pathetic about this boy that had suddenly became a part of my life. Something pathetic, but also humorous as well as... Comforting. He keeps me entertained, but also irritates the living hell out of me. Like I literally wanna shake babies when he's around me or when he talks to me, but then again it's like I crave his presence because when he's gone... It's boring again.Kimmie and I talked earlier today. We both apologized for being so terrible to each other, and I apologized for ignoring her. On the other hand, we spoke nothing about Bradley, and nor did I want to at the moment. I just needed time to let everything sink in. Yeah, it's been almost 3 weeks for me to have time to comprehend all of this, but I still can't wrap my mind around Bradley and Kimmie.
After another torturous hour of being in class, the bell finally rang, and all us tortured kids were free to go.
"Brynna, come see me before you leave please."
"Mr. Thompson, you know I would, but I kinda gotta gooo..." I said and pointed towards the door, slowly making my way.
"This won't take long." He said. I trudged over to his desk and set my backpack down.
"So what's up?" He asks.
"Um, i mean im trying to go home but you wanted to talk to me so here-"
"Not like what are you doing, Brynna. Like... What's up with your grade? Where's all this makeup work you promised me?"
"You know? I don't know actually. I did it, but it's like mysteriously all gone. Like poof. I don't know man."
"Excuses, excuses, excuses."
"They're not excu-"
"Brynna."
"Yeah, okay. What?" I twirled my thumbs and stood there, looking at him, waiting for a response.
"What's up with that? All the lying and procrastination?"
"You know, I've just been really busy lately. Like with.." I thought for a second. "College applications and such...?" I said, almost in the form of a question.
"Really?" He folded his arms over his chest, leaning back in his office chair.
"Yeah, dude."
"Okay, well why didn't you just say so? You need some help? An extension with your homework?"
"I'm actually going home to work on homework like right now, Thompson. So if I could actually just skidaddle, that'd be so awesome." I said, holding up my thumbs.
"Yeah, okay. Get going."
"Awesome." I said as I turned towards the door.
"Lemme know if you need help with those apps though, Brynna. I'm happy to help you!" Thompson called after me.
"Yeah, okay." I rolled my eyes as I sped walked towards my car, trying to escape as fast as possible. That excuse always works.I pulled up to my house to find a familiar motorcycle parked out front, Alex leaning against it with his arms folded, looking at a pretend watch on his wrist.
"My, my, Brynna. You're 5 minutes late. It's 2:50." He was smiling as he approached me.
"I'm aware of the time, prick." I laughed and walked towards my front door, grabbing my keys and unlocking, letting him inside first.
"So um what do people say when they usually have people over..?" I asked.
"What?" He asked, confused, giggling a little bit.
"Don't people usually say something when they have people over? Like.. "My casa.. Is your casa.. Just don't clog my toilets."?"
"Brynna, really?" He asked me.
"What? Kimmie is usually the only person over at my house. I don't really do this kinda thing like ever." I tried to explain myself, but it didn't really work out.
"Oh so im only assuming Kimmie has indeed taken a shit in your bathroom then?" He laughed.
"I would never give over that kind of information to you." I shook my head as I walked into the kitchen to set my stuff down on the counter while I fixed myself a snack.
"She's your best friend. I already know the answer." He laughed again.
"Then why did you even ask?!" I laughed, shaking my head.
"I don't know, I wanted to see your reaction I guess." He was still laughing as he made his way over to my fridge and opened it, searching for something to eat.
"Oh okay, just raid my kitchen, why don't you."
"Aye, mi casa es su casa, so you said." We both laughed.
"Okay whatever."
"Oh hey guess what." He turned to me as he closed the fridge doors, an apple in his hand. He took a giant bite and chewed it before continuing. "You're actually being nice to me. And laughing."
I rolled my eyes and shoved him away from me.
"Shut up." I said. I didn't find anything appetizing, so I just grabbed my books and started to walk up the stairs.
"Where are you going?" Alex asked me as he stood at the bottom of the stairs.
"Um... My room?" I turned around and continued walking.
"Ooh, kinky." Alex whispered as he bounded up the stairs.
"Excuse me?" I whipped around, causing him to lose his balance and almost fall backward down the stairs.
"Kidding." He said with his hands in the air.
"That's for damn sure." I said, turning on my heels, although with a slight smile on my face.
