This morning when I woke up, I had made my decision. I was going to tell her no, and be done with it. She would leave, and I would die here, without anybody. But then I thought back on all that had happened yesterday.
She was always completely honest and up front about things, even though I pretended to less intelligant than I am. When I asked her to prove it, she did, and she did not use any tricks or any forms or lying that I knew of. She explained it as best she could, and I honestly didn't like it. I did not want to take the risk of getting hurt more so I had decide not to take the risk.
When I told her this, (over a breakfast she had made), she tried one last time to get me to change my mind. She explained it all over again, and tried to get me to see it was possible, possible to be cured. She had one more trick up her sleeve. She showed me her teeth, and explained once more how she believed it to work.
I agreed, but only because she insisted, and if worst should come to worst, I would die anyways.
So here I am, waiting for her to start doing whatever she thinks she needs to do.
"So when do you start this? I'm only dying here..."
"Look, like I said, I have never tried this before, so don't rush. I'm trying to decide what the best place for me to bite you would be. Do I do the neck, where it usually happens, or on your wrist, where the germs first entered?"
I did not see that coming. Has she seen my wrist? its still oozing that green puss like some sort of crazy staff infection. No one wants to get near that.
"Are you serious? You have seen my wrist! Thats disgusting!"
She gives a small smile, and before I can react has my head moved at an angle and bites into my neck. It hurts worse than my zombie bite, I can feel my life draining out of my neck, and there is nothing I can do to stop it. It burns like someone has poured liquid fire into me, and all I can do is hope that I die soon. I can imagine my soul being sucked into her through those fangs and then it stops. The burning is gone, and I feel relief. I can feel her pushing my soul back, I can feel the life being returned. I can feel the cool rushing of my blood being pushed back to where it belongs. I feel strength returning to me, more than i have had for a long while. I can feel the poison that has been creeping up my arm slow down, I can feel it fight, and slowly get pushed back, but it is not gone.
She stops, and backs up. Before I can do anything, she bites the tip of her middle finger. She puts a drop of blood on each hole in my neck, and my skin starts itching and then stops. I watch the tip of her finger heal, and the hole she bit fade into nothing.
"It's not gone is it? there is still some there, isn't it?" She is deeply depressed about not being able to get rid of the venom.
"try again? " I ask her, even though I know my body probably can't handle any more.
"No. I did what I could for now, I don't think I could handle that much energy and I don't think you would survive it anyways. How does your wound feel, did I help at all?"
"It's like it was pushed back, but not removed. I feel better, but definately not cured." I look at my arm and am suprised to see that it no longer looks nearly as bad as it did. The pus that has been steadily getting worse since I got bitten has shrunk, and the wound does not look nearly as swollen.
She puts a new bandage on my arm, and says "Perhaps I can't get rid of it all at once. Maybe you can be cured, but it takes time."
"or maybe, you will never get rid of it, and I will always be stuck, being used as your feeding toy every evening." It comes out harsher than I intended to, but my point is still valid. I do not want to be forever stuck to someone I hardly know the first thing about. I think I would rather die.
She is upset by my reply, but does not mention it. She only says "Tomorrow evening, I will be back to check on you. Don't get killed or lost or anything."
I feel guilty now, I never wanted to hurt her feelings. She starts going East, the direction away from the car of zombies.
