DAHEE

'Good morning.' Chaeyoung smiled at me and opened the fridge, searching for some breakfast.

'You too.' I murmured and took a sip from my coffee. Damn it, I knew I shouldn't had stay up last night and take a walk. But I couldn't sleep anyways, so why's staying in bed and staring at the ceiling better?

I turned on my phone and opened Instagram. I watched the stories and liked the new posts but then I exited the app since I found nothing interesting. I opened Kakao then to check if I had any messages.
Suddenly my phone beeped.

It was a notification from Google Photos, telling me to rediscover last year's events on today. The photo that was inserted was picturing Jaemin smiling with his eyes closed, two mugs filled with warm tea in his hands touching his cheeks.
I remember this day like it was yesterday. We spent a few days at Jeju Island to celebrate our anniversary. On the last day, our flight was cancelled so we had to wait five hours for the next one. I took this picture when we went into a café and bought some hot tea after roaming on the streets for an hour in the freezing weather.

'Fucking Google.' I hissed, slamming my phone down to the table.

'Calm down. What happened?' Chaeyoung stopped pouring milk into her cup and looked at me.

'Ah, nothing it's just..'

'You know you can tell me anything.'

'Uh.. Google Photos reminded me to a day I don't want to remember.'

'Let me guess, it was a date with that boy you dumped.' My cousin raised one of her eyebrows.
I did a small nod, taking a sip from my coffee.

'You know, you never actually told me why you dumped him. So since we both have a couple of hours left before going to work, I suggest you to tell me the whole story right now.' Chaeyoung grabbed her sandwich and cup then sat on a chair in front of me.
'I'm all ears.'

I sighed.
'We both fucked up I think. No, rather just me.'

Chaeyoung slowly nodded. 'Yeah. It was the time when your mom kicked you out, right?'

'Yes. Jaemin's grandma fell ill, so he had to start working to make money since his mother was busy nursing his grandma. It was a stressful time for both of us.'

'Oh, damn. Is his grandma okay now?'

'I.. I don't know actually. We never met after the break up for six months.'
I frowned. I sounded like a real jerk right now.

'You should've asked him when you met at that party a week ago.' My cousin shook her head.

'Yeah, right, I should've ask him. Also I should've been nicer to him, should've been a better girlfriend, and mainly shouldn't have cheated on him.'
I growled and put my face into my hands.

'What? You cheated on him?'

'Yeah, when we were on a break.'

'This is disappointing.' Chaeyoung frowned.

'What isn't disappointing that I do?'

'Tell me more about the cheating.'

I rubbed my face. 'Well, I was at a bar. I was going alone because I had a tough week and wanted to get wasted. I just met a random guy there when I was already tipsy. We were talking and he kind of pulled me closer to him. All I thought was 'Why was the world I built up with Jaemin collapsing? Why does we have to end like this?'. So I just.. I don't know why but I just kissed the guy. Maybe I was imagining he was Jaemin. It could be possible, we weren't really affectionate with each other at that time. '
