"Jenna, where the hell is our classroom? We've walked this same corridor up and down four times and yet no sign of lecture hall 8. There's 7 and there's 9 where the fuck is hall 8"
"Calm down Jess, let's just ask someone...oh, wait, there it is! Come on now"
They ran to their class. It was almost full by the time they reached and so they hurried down to the nearest empty row and sat down.
"Thank god, we made it in time. It would have been so embarrassing to be late on our very first day" Jenna smiled placing her bag on the empty seat next to her
"yeah, that would have been horribl......oh my William Shakespeare! who is she?"
Jenna turned to see the person had caught Jessie's attention. The entire class went silent as this stunningly beautiful girl with long brunette curls walked in. Her eyes were like pieces of brown marble, beautifully lined with kohl with a black winged liner perfecting shaping them. She was wearing a pair of black jeans and a blue netted wool blouse that perfectly accentuated her narrow waist, the long sleeves complementing her long shapely arms, and the jeans showing off her lean frame and beautifully tall legs.
"Is this seat taken?" she asked Jenna. Her voice was deep like malafacient's but her smile prettier than snow white's
"no, not at all" Jenna replied taking her bag off the seat
"She is BEAUTIFUL!" Jessie mouthed as Jenna turned to keep her bag on the other side
"And she smells AMAZING" Jenna mouthed back
.....................................................................
"Wow, college is hectic" Jenna picked up a protein bar from the canteen and walked to find a free table along with Jessie
"obviously girl, this ain't high school"
"I know, but they could have gone a little easy on the first day"
"I'm not complaining, I love it"
"of course you do, There's no math"
"exactly! Hey, there's that mystery beauty from earlier. I swear Jenna, she's so gorgeous, it's like she just walked out of a Brontë novel. She walks in beauty, like the night. Of cloudless climes and starry skies"
"Jess, don't plagiarize Keats so blatantly"
"I'd use my own words Jen but they'd fall short. Alas, I feel more than I read and hence can't express it as well as Keats"
"she's walking towards us...Jess close your mouth please, don't gawk like an owl"
"hello, may I join you guys"
"please yes! I mean do please, I mean...yes, please do" Jessie replied fumbling with enthusiasm and Jenna chuckled
"thank you" Hera smiled back
"I'm Jenna and this is my friend Jessie"
"I'm Hera"
"Wow, that's a different name, I mean it's not bad, it's very nice, it's just different, but good different" Jessie fumbled again
"haha, thank you, I guess?"
"don't mind him Hera, he's just intimidated by pretty women. So, you're majoring in literature too?"
"yes, I've always loved literature, the art of telling stories, come to think of it isn't all the world a story?"
"it is, as William said, 'All the World's a stage'"
"And all the men and women merely players" Hera completed
"I love him"
"Me too"
"Where you from Hera? You have an English accent; I love the accent by the way"
"thanks Jenna, I'm from Wales, England, but I moved to America three years ago when my mum and Dad separated"
"oh, I'm so sorry"
"No, don't be, they separated on very amicable terms, in fact I don't even think you can call it that. It's just that my mum loves the U.S. and my Dad can't get himself to leave the English countryside, so they decided that it would be fun to take some time off each other and experiment, explore other options but they still just keep calling and dating each other. They're basically a separated, married couple in a long-distance relationship"
"wow!" Jenna laughed "it's strange but beautiful"
"I know, dad says they don't allow their love to be defined by the constricted narrow definitions of the world...umm...Hi Jessie!" she turned towards Jessie and waved her hand in front of his face in order to break him from his trance
"Sorry" he replied shyly scratching the back of his neck, looking down in embarrassment, "I didn't mean to stare, I'm going to get a sandwich, would you like anything?"
"No, I'm fine, thanks"
"Jenna?"
"No, I'm good too"
"okay" he scurried off quickly, attempting to escape the embarrassing situation that he had put himself in
Hera and Jenna laughed watching Jessie run away
"Sorry for that, Jessie can be a bit too much Jessie sometimes"
"it's okay, I don't mind, he seems like a nice guy"
"he is, we've been friends for over ten years and I'll vouch for him any day to the nice guys committee. His parents died in a car crash when he was seventeen. They left him a lot of money and property but, when has money ever made up for love? His uncle moved in as his guardian but as soon as he turned eighteen, he said he didn't need his guardianship anymore and asked him to leave. Since then he's been living alone, he comes over often, what the heck he's more in our house than his own but me and dad don't mind at all, we love having him over, he's almost like a son to Dad, he's not just my best friend, he's family"
"what about your mum?"
"She died when I was three"
"oh Jenna, I'm sorry"
"No, it's okay. I don't miss her much; I didn't really know her to miss her. What makes me sad though is knowing that Dad feels alone without her"
"I'm pretty sure he's a great Dad"
"Oh, the best! Ya, he's really the best"
"Sandwiches with a side of fries" Jessie exclaimed putting down the tray on the table "I know you girls said you didn't want anything, but I got some fries anyways. Conversations taste best when accompanied by hot, crispy fries. So, what did I miss?"
"Um nothing much"
"Yeah, Jenna was just telling me what a great guy you are. And I know she's right because guys who get fries are the best kind of guys" Hera said taking a French fry and dipping the edge of the fry in a bit of ketchup
"Thank you, I love you!" Jessie mouthed to Jenna and she returned an accepting nod.
