"White...what do you think you're doing?" asked Black Diamond. Surrounded by gem soldiers, all of whom pointing weapons at her, she unflinchingly held eye contact with the one who commanded them, standing tall with her arms crossed over her chest.
"Don't take this personally, Black," White Diamond said with a smug smile and her chin held high. "It's simply that your ideals don't match with what is best for Homeworld. I hope you understand," she said. Black Diamond smirked.
"It's funny how I feel the same way. Only, my 'ideals' are based in reality, which is more than I can say for you," she stated.
"Is that so? It looks to me as though reality has shifted in my favor," White Diamond replied. Black Diamond snickered softly.
"Is that what you think?" she asked. Seeing White Diamond's smile widen, she sighed and allowed her arms to fall to her sides. She smiled back at her and chuckled. "Oh, stars...fine, I give up," she said.
"That's what I thought," White Diamond said. She turned her attention down to the soldiers. "Take her away," she ordered. Her eyes went wide when red diamond-shaped markings appeared under the feet of the soldiers. Pillars of flames erupted from the markings, engulfing the gems who stood upon them. Black Diamond stood in between the pillars, her gaze still and her smile unwavering.
"HYAH!" A loud bang sounded throughout the room, followed by another one, then a third one even louder than the two before it. White Diamond snapped her gaze toward the door right as it was kicked in. "Finally!" A red heel clicked on the ground as the pillars of flame dissipated.
Standing where the door to the throne room used to be was a red maiden in a long cocktail dress that hung over only one shoulder. Her striking red eyes shined with pride, and despite her poise, there was a chaotic air surrounding her. Behind her stood a slightly taller gem. Everything about him was serene in comparison to Red Diamond from his soft green hue to his robes that draped over his shoulders and reached all the way to the ground. Though his gaze didn't leave the glowing orb in his hand, his furrowed brow made it clear how much he wanted to scold Red Diamond for not opening the door normally.
Black Diamond summoned her staff as the two smaller diamonds came to stand beside her, Green Diamond taking care not to step on any dormant gems. White Diamond looked at them in shock.
"What is the meaning of this?!" she asked.
"This a coup, White," Red Diamond stated.
"Secession," Green Diamond corrected her.
"Be happy that this isn't a coup, White." Red Diamond crossed her arms.
White Diamond looked at Black Diamond, who returned the smug smirk from earlier.
"If this won't convince you, then I fear nothing will," Black Diamond said. White Diamond glared at her. "Oh...? Are you mad that they value my guidance more?" Black Diamond asked. White Diamond gritted her teeth and clenched her fists before relaxing and looking at her with a smile.
"No, of course not. Though, I am glad that the others won't have you around to corrupt their minds," she said. Black Diamond was taken aback by her words and her carefree tone.
"I...see..." she said with a bit of hurt seeping into her tone. She frowned and held up her staff. "So be it, White. Rot in your palace for all I care."
Red Diamond looked up at her with worry. She hugged her and rested her head on her shoulder. Green Diamond glanced at her and gave her other shoulder a sympathetic pat. A pillar of blackness surrounded them, and once it dissipated, the three of them were gone.
White Diamond huffed and sat down on her throne as the frustration that she felt once again started to show on her face. She looked at the spot where the three gems stood before and then to the broken down door before leaning back and crossing her legs.
"They just lacked ambition..."
