Gifted Pt. III // Ethan Dolan

===== (Y/N's P.O.V) (Months Later)

"Alright, Y/N. Are you ready?" I shrugged,

"Let's do it." I faced the targets and waved a hand. The bucket of arrows in front of me shot forward and pegged the target, one by one. I looked up through the glass partition,

"Are we done here? All I've done is move things and it's getting old." Reeva looked a little flustered. I faced the targets and moved them out of the way. The PA crackled,

"Let's do some exploding then." Training dummies raised out of the floor. I looked at Reeva,

"What do you expect me to do?" Reeva looked back,

"You said you can do so much more than just move things with your mind. Show me." Something clicked. I turned to the training dummies,

"Explode. Explode. Explode." Nothing happened. I could feel myself getting frustrated. I could feel the anger building up,

"Reeva! It's not working!" I stomped my foot. A crackle of electricity beelined from my foot and one of the dummies burst into flames. I was blown backwards. I hit the ground hard and the wind was knocked out of me. I caught my breath and looked up at Reeva. She nodded,

"Hold on to that anger, Y/N. That is the kind of power we need in the field." I pushed myself off of the ground,

"How am I supposed to? I'm not angry all the time, much to contrary belief." Reeva crossed her arms,

"Remember what happened to your parents, Y/N. All your pain. The suffering. Find it deep inside of yourself and hold onto it. You are dismissed." I walked out of the training facility. Ethan was waiting for me in the common area,

"How'd it go?" I shrugged,

"Wanna hang?" I pointed down the hall. He nodded,

"Sure."

~Ethan's P.O.V~ (Y/N's Room)

It was too quiet. I cleared my throat,

"So, um, if you don't mind me asking-" Y/N cut me off,

"You don't have to be all respectful about my parents." My eyebrows lowered,

"How did you-" She rolled her eyes,

"I can read your mind when I want to, remember?" I laughed nervously,

"That's not weird at all." She cracked a weak smile,

"Don't worry, I don't read your mind all the time. Just sometimes." She sat up on her bed,

"It was an accident, when I found out I had the X-Gene. My parents weren't letting me go to a party with my friends and I got angry. My mom was making dinner and a knife was sitting out on the counter. I kept thinking-" She paused,

"I kept thinking 'Grab the knife'. Next thing I knew, she was screaming and my dad was pinned against the wall." I put a hand on her leg,

"It's okay. It-" She held up a hand,

"I'm not done." She met my eyes,

"He wasn't pinned out of fear or anything. The knife, uh- the walls, um, were thin at the house. The knife was through his eye and the other side of the wall." A couple tears hit my hand, which was still on her leg. She wiped her face,

"I turned and my mom was frozen with fear. She was begging me not to hurt her. I told her that I would never but she was too hysterical. The neighbors started knocking on the door. I shushed my mom, but she was still screaming. I just wanted her to stop making so much racket and suddenly she just stopped. She fell to the floor and didn't move after that. The neighbors were incessant and when I opened the door, they just burst in. Someone called Sentinel Services and I had to take off. They've been looking for me every since."

~Y/N's P.O.V~

His  thumb was rubbing ambiently on my knee. He sat back,

"I think I've done worse." He glanced up at me. I chuckled sarcastically,

"What can be worse then killing your own parents? Especially over something so stupid?" Ethan bit his bottom lip,

"Killing a bunch of innocent people for no reason. Especially when it's unnecessary."

I really like this series. I hope y'all do too. It's something I'm actually passionate about and I'm glad that I've found my drive to write again, especially so much better than I have before. Enjoy!
