Juliet's POV
Oliver was a perfect gentleman. He was kind, respectful, and genuine. He has little to no flaws and everyone in our town knew it. You could say he was popular, but I prefer to say he's well respected. He would make a wonderful husband one day and I'm still curious why he isn't married.
"So Oliver, to what do I owe the pleasure". I said to him.
"The pleasure of simply getting to know each other." He didn't linger on my question for long. "I'm still surprised you agreed to come out with me." He was being open.
"What can I say? You make it hard to say no" Actually it would have been quite easy.
I looked over and saw he smiled to himself. We were still walking arm in arm. I wanted to ask where we were going, but I decided to leave it a mystery for once.
The evening was still fresh and the stars were becoming brighter every passing minute. We walked towards a lake near the park. "Can you swim?" He asked me.
"Excuse me," I said laughing.
"Kidding, obviously," He said which led to me being able to breathe again. Maybe I did want to get in? I guess we'll never know. As we got closer I saw a picnic basket and a sheet on the grass. I could feel the smile creeping onto my face.
I looked over to Oliver "You did well." I squeezed his hand and he guided me to our spot. I saw the packed sandwiches, cookies, salad, and various fruits. "I hope you're hungry," He said to me.
"I am now," I said while laying on the grass.
We ended up talking about random things. Everything between our childhood and our dreams.
Turns out he doesn't want to work in a bakery for the rest of his life. It was his father's dream but not his.
"So you don't want to inherit the bakery, you don't like books, and you can't act or sing," I said to him as we looked at the sky. Naming all these things made him seem lifeless to me.
"Hey! that all may be true but doesn't mean you have to say it," He said trying to defend himself. We both laughed.
"Then what do you want Oliver? Do you want a small life with children or to dream as if you can live forever?" My question got him thinking. It was a minute before he answered and I could see all the emotions on his face.
Then he smiled. A real smile this time. "I want to travel. I want to go to Greece and see the ocean. I want to go to Italy and fall in love with the culture. Maybe, I don't want to fall in love with a person, but instead with the world." He seemed in a daze. He was thinking out loud as if he had always wanted to say that.
Oliver finally turned his head and looked at me. "What do you want?" I already knew this answer. I've known this answer since I was sixteen and I continue to critic it.
"I want to be an author. I also want adventure and life. Maybe even see my book come to life on one of those silver screen things." I laughed a little. I liked going to movies, but I preferred books. You can always understand a character more. Why they do what they do and what their deepest thoughts are, while on the silver screens all you see is what they painted for you.
Oliver reminds me of those silver screens. He is painted perfectly and all I want to know is what goes on in his head. He says all the right words and does everything correctly, but I feel like there is more he just isn't telling me.
"You look pretty at night," Oliver said to me. Once again, always said the right thing. "that's a wonderful compliment coming from the Greek god himself." He was taken back and laughed with me.
"Greek god?" He was surprised and confused. "Yes, a Greek god," I said to confirm his curiosity.
"Like Hercules?" He asked me. "More like Artemis or Apollo, and Hercules isn't Greek.," He gasped and lightly hit my arm.
"I'm more of a Zeus or Hades." He proclaimed trying to defend himself. "You wish" I stuck my tongue out at him. When he said that it made me realize that he was pretty but there wasn't too much to him other than that.
We continued to just look at each other. I felt like he was going to kiss me but I wasn't interested in it. Yes, he was sweet and amazing but I don't feel any chemistry. Maybe staying friends is best.
I'm also aware this is only the first date and I need to give it time. I do wonder what he is though. Is he a Zeus or is he a Hades. Maybe he is his own Greek god that I have yet to discover. Then again he isn't even Greek!
That thought made me silently laugh to myself and he had curious eyes. "What's all the giggling for? Do I have something in my teeth?" He asked as he ran his tongue across his teeth obnoxiously.
"No! Even if you did I wouldn't tell you. I find humor in you not knowing things." As I said this he sat up and looked at me.
"Well Ms. Juliet it's rare when I don't know something." As he said this I could tell he was trying to seem more serious than he really was. I just looked at him. "Is that suppose to scare me or intimidate me?" He nodded for a second. "Maybe." with a slight smile that made him look cheeky.
Everything he packed was from the bakery. Which means it was all fresh from this morning and I do enjoy it. I want to say he's fun and entertaing but I can only imagine how entertaning the ginger head is. Maybe soon enough I can find out, but as for right now I have a wanna be Greek god with me.
