chapter 1

Sollux was sitting on a bench in the park near campus. He was not sure about meeting his new roomie yet. he would much rather have it be that his roomie was accidentally ran over by a car on the way to campus so he wouldn't have to share a room. odds are that wasn't going to happen. so he just sat on the bench reading his book with his coffee in his free hand. it had already gotten cold due to the fact that he wasn't really drinking it. and the fact that the weather was pretty shitty didn't help either. but he would much rather read then spend his time drinking coffee anyways...
Karkat on the other hand was in his dorm room unpacking. he had already chose his side of the room not giving two shits on what his roomie thought. when he finally finished unpacking he decided to go down to the park and walk around for a little bit. he grabbed his phone, ear buds, and room key and headed down to the park. it hadn't taken that long considering that the park was technically on campus. he walked around for a little bit listening to music on his phone when he decided he would much rather be in his warm dorm then in a cold ass park when the sun was about to set so he turned around and started walking back. he hadn't walked far until some idiot rammed into him spilling his coffee everywhere and knocking karkat on his ass and making him drop his room key. "what the fuck!? watch where you're going asshole!"  karkat was mad and he didn't care if the stranger knew it or not. he didn't want to let him off easy and he wasn't going too. 
sollux was getting cold so he decided he would go back to campus and see who his roommate was. he put his book away in his bag and got up and started walking. He was rushing because he wanted to choose his side of the room first. while walking he accidentally rammed into a stranger knocking the stranger on his ass and spilling coffee everywhere and dropping his room key. "what the fuck!? watch where you're going asshole!" the stranger practically was yelling. sollux rolled his eyes.  great just his luck he rammed into a kid who hadn't gotten his morning coffee. sollux looked at the ground seeing TWO room keys with the same number. "hey.. is this your room key?" sollux honestly didn't want to share a room with this ass hole. "yes... i think it is.." the stranger replied. well fuck.. there goes your hopes of having your roommate being hit by a car. but he still didn't mind if this guy got hit with one now. sollux threw the guys room key at him "the names sollux.. you must be karkat" he said this shutting his eyes tightly hoping this wasnt karkat and that the real karkat was under a bus somewhere not here. "yea I'm karkat.." karkat replied while catching his key. well fuck. can i just push him under a bus myself? sollux wondered to himself. sollux stood up not bothering to help up karkat. 
karkat stood up after sollux did and brushed off the dirt on his clothes and put is key in his pocket. "god damn it i was hoping my roommate died a horrible death or something"  sollux voiced not caring if karkat heard him at all. karkat chuckled s little not caring if he was supposed to hear it or not and started walking not caring about sollux at all. sollux soon passed karkat after grabbing his things. "hurry up shorty" sollux said after getting a good amount ahead of karkat. "hey! I'm not short I'm average! you re just really tall. I'm like 5'4 and you re like 6'3. im an average height for my age." karkat said while walking towards the taller boy. karkat reached in his pocket and grabbed his phone so he wouldn't have to listen to this asshole the rest of the walk. when he looked at his phone there were cracks all over the screen. "oh wow. this is sooo amazing this is really what i needed right now." karkat said sarcastically. "you know i would offer to fix that for free for you since im taking mechanics this year but i dont like your attitude. so fuck you. and fuck your phone." sollux laughed a little at his roommates misfortune as he passed karkat and went upstairs and into the room. karkat then picked up his pace and walked upstairs and into the room. "you know it is your fault though if you hadnt rammed into me in the park then my phone would still be in one piece."  karkat set his phone on his bed and sat down. "my fault? its your fault for being so short i didnt even see you down there. its a miracle i didnt step on you down there" sollux laughed a little at his comment. "haha very funny sollux. im fucking average for my size and you are just really tall." karkat replied. sollux tried to hold in a laugh "carefull munchkin. we dont want to break you on the first day of university." sollux said. karkat crossed his arms. "whatever.. i only have 2 rules. 1: dont touch my shit. 2: dont give me stupid nicknames. okay?" karkat said sorta pissed off. "okay... karkles" sollux replied dropping his stuff on the floor by his bed.  "youre a fucking asshole.." karkat mumbled under his breath. "trust me the feeling is mutual." sollux replied taking out his laptop and plugging it in. karkat turned away from solux and facing the wall laying down. "hey once youre done observing that wall of its amazing features you should tell me what time you get up so i dont get surprised when i hear movement at 5 am." sollux said snickering a little. "im not observing the wall im just bored and i cant really go on my phone. and i get up at 6 am" karkat replied.  "you ever tried reding karkles?" sollux said wile retrieving a book from his bag and tossing it to karkat. "its a good read" sollux said. "thanks... ill give it a read" karkat said while opening the book and he began reading. "oh and if you want me to fix your phone you can give it to me for a while and i can get it back to you all nice and shiney." sollux said. "thanks.." karkat replied tossing his phone to the others bed.
