*Damian's POV*
Time: 6:30 AM
Date: Monday, Aug. 10, 2019I yawned, sitting up in my bed. Sunlight shone through the curtains, illuminating the clouds of dust that was otherwise invisible to the naked eye.
Something had to have woken me up. I was never up this early.
Something ringed and I sighed, already annoyed.
My alarm clock.
"Damian. You up?" Someone yelled.
That was Dick Grayson aka Nightwing. He was kind of like an older brother to me.
"Yeah I am." I murmured. Unfortunately I thought. What is today? For some reason, I couldn't remember.
"Damian, it's the first day of school. You wouldn't want to be late." Nightwing called.
I bolted up.
Now I was awake.
I got out of bed and raced downstairs.
"Yahooo!" I shouted as I slid down the banister.
"It's the first day of school!" To be honest, I was very excited.
I ran to the table.
"Good morning everyone!" I said.
Barbra snickered.
"What?" I asked.
"Damian, your clothes." She giggled.
I looked down.
I was wearing my Robin suit.
"So?"
"You can't wear that to school."
"I'm not going to."
"But still!"
"Master Damian, are you going to eat your breakfast?" Alfred asked.
"Yeah. I am."
I sat down to eat the pancakes, eggs, and bacon Alfred had made.
My good mood was gone, replaced with one of tiredness and frustration. In other words, I was mad.
Why did Barbra have to point out my outfit like that? I thought, sourly. She could have just told me, not laugh about it.
"Hey, Alfred, where's Bruce?" I asked the butler.
"He's at work because of an emergency." He replied.
"You mean he he won't be able to be there for my first day of school?" I asked.
Great. Just another thing to add to my list of disappointments. I grumbled. First Barbra now this?! I sighed in exasperation and angrily finished my breakfast.
I rushed upstairs to my bedroom and...tripped, landing flat on my back.
Well done, Damian. I muttered to myself. Now you'll start your tenth grade schoolyear off with a broken foot.
I angrily looked around for whatever had caused me to trip. I spied a black box with a yellow bow. I was tempted to kick it down the stairs but I was also curious as to what was inside. I debated what to to do.
Eventually, curiosity won over, and I sat up pulling the box closer to me. I undid the bow and looked inside. There was a backpack, a binder, a pencil case and a school uniform, all the same colors: black, blue, gray, and white.
A note was attached to the tie of the uniform. It read:Dear Damian,
I'm sorry about missing your first day of school but I will make it up to you. I promise. I hope these items can help you have a great day of school.I love you.
Your dad, Bruce.P.S. There is a new teacher at Wayne Prep. Mr. Urie, I believe. Tell him Batman said hi.
I chuckled. Only Bruce would ask me to tell a new teacher Batman said hi.
But then, I got nervous.
New teachers were...unpredictable. They were either nice (good) or mean (really really bad for me).
I got dressed. My good mood had returned. I was determined to make today the best day it could be.
I raced downstairs.
I was ready for anything that came my way.
