FLORENCE DIDN'T REMEMBER FALLING down to the ground when the gun shot was heard, she remembered Ada pushing her down, but getting back up was a completely different story, and she couldn't bring herself to think back to how it all happened. With the shooting from her flat locked into her mind, the girl wished that Tommy had never used this funeral as a trap for their enemies, because then, she wouldn't be reliving the moment where she believed that she would die — Florence felt her life flash before her eyes when the two men broke into her apartment and kill her neighbour, she didn't think she was going to survive, and when she heard those gunshots again.. It was like her life flashing before her eyes again. She saw herself as a child, running through the streets of Small Heath with her uncle Finn, she saw herself greeting her father when he stepped off of the train back from France with his brothers, remembering the time where the Peaky Blinders took down Billy Kimber, taking part of London, she remembered Campbell threatening to take her away when she was twelve years old, if her father didn't follow his orders, and she remembered Grace, the kind woman whom had taken her in as one of her own, until her death not long after.

Everything bad that had happened to her in her life, was because of her father, because of the life he led, the life that she had been dragged into at such a young age. Before the war, before Tommy had left her, she had a simple life, sure, her mother had fallen I'll and died when she was very young, but her life was still as normal as the next kid; the second her father and uncles came back from the war, everything started to change, and not in a good way. People at school began to avoid her, not wanting to get involved with a Shelby because of what they do to people that wrong them, anyone that was near Florence was terrified of doing something wrong, that the girl would go running to her family at the first sign of trouble, the fear that their fathers would be cut because of it. Florence didn't exactly have any friends, she had Finn, but he was family, and he was the only person the girl truly spent time with, someone who was her age, too — it was a lonely childhood, one that she didn't exactly like to reflect on, but here she was, remembering every single horrid detail, thanks to her father.

Upon hearing Polly's words about Florence, Tommy tried to avoid his daughters gaze, feeling enough emotions as it was, he didn't need to feel guilt amongst that because of how his daughter was taking all of this in. Johns death had been a huge hit on the family, himself included, and he wanted nothing but to get revenge for what they did to his brother, and he was doing it the ways he knew how, keeping secrets, and lying. He always lied to Florence, he hadn't meant to build up the relationship he had with her, he knew that the girl didn't trust him, and he didn't blame her in the slightest, he had caused it himself with all of the lies he had told. The girl used to follow him around when he came back from the war, believing that he was still the same man he was before he left, the same father, but when she found out he wasn't, she began to distance herself, and it had been like that ever since, except, every year, the girl moved further and further away. Florence didn't like the man Tommy had become, the moment he left for France all of those years ago, she knew deep down, that she wouldn't have a fatherly figure when he came back, and she was right. A shell of the man who used to be her father came back, and from that moment on, Tommy was only her father when he felt like it.
