The Dad Talk

"Sweetie can you come down here." my mothers soft voice rang throughout the house as I plowed down the stairs. " What do you need mom." "Nothing, your father wants to talk to you in the barn." "Okay!" I skipped down to the barn and entered the familiar aroma of hay and grain. My dad was leaning against one of the stalls looking in at the horse. "Hey dad, mom said you needed me." "Yes I do, that boy you went out with last night what's his name." "Grant." I spoke unsure. "Okay well I've never meet him and haven't approved of him so either he needs to come by for dinner, or you need to break..." I cut my dad off real quick with a vicious voice that pulled all the horses up from their hay. "I'M NOT BREAKING UP WITH HIM!" my father scowled. "Well with that tone your grounded for a week which means that's Grant can't come over and you have to break up with him." I stood shocked what was wrong with my father. "NO!" I ran out of the barn as fast as my legs would carry me. I slammed the screen door and ignored my mothers scowl. I slammed my door and for safety of privacy I locked it.

A couple hours later I had missed dinner and almost every member of the family had came up and tried to get me out, didn't work. I had stole all the door openers and possible things to open my door. Beside that I had pilled a stack of random heavy things right in front of the door just in case they did find a way in.

At midnight my mother and father decided to give up and let me be. I had decided that I was going to run away. I was tired of all my family thinking I was a baby and couldn't take the heat. I could they just wouldn't let me.

As soon as the clock struck twelve I snuck out of my room I went first into my parents room were I carefully opened the coffee bin hidden in his closet. I grabbed about six hundred dollars out of it and then slipped out. Next I wasn't to the kitchen and got canned goods and easy eating food. I grabbed batteries for my flashlight and two match boxes, and three lighters. I was sure I had everything I needed so I put on my jacket and slipped out the door.

When I got down to the barn I grabbed Buddy and tacked him up. I was about to leave when I heard the shrill whines of Arinda. I couldn't live with myself if I left her so I grabbed her and put all my backpacks and belongings on her and strapped them up. I got on Buddy and kicked him into a canter with Arinda nose in nose with him almost like they were racing.

The wind through my hair was something of glory. I was free and I wasn't sure if I wanted to go back.
