just thoughts i have on stuff i see on here

1. can people (and i would assume this is mostly towards teenage girls who find these characters to be attractive) stop writing fanfiction involving canonically gay male characters dating female characters? it is disrespectful and a complete erasure of their canon sexuality. the two key examples i've seen of this is alec from shadowhunters and sebastian from glee.

2. i've always felt a little uneasy about people casting actors who have died in their stories as even just faceclaims. it just feels a little weird to me and i have almost considered it myself (my wip has a character called bennett and the first person i thought of that would make a perfect bennett is cory monteith) but it just felt a little off to me.

3. any romance story involving kidnapping, stockholm syndrome and controlling someone is extremely toxic and should be treated as such.

4. i have come across many fanfics where the writer has inserted their oc into the story and just pretty much writes word for word the film or TV show that they are writing for. stories like this, to me, are uncreative and that is because most of these stories, the writer has just taken exact lines and exact moments from the film or TV show and had their oc do it or say it. they don't expand upon the story and they don't change it up because their oc is there. you could just watch the film or TV show, imagining their oc in if you want to, and still get the same experience.

5. i am fine with age gap relationships but i am only fine with a relationship between two consenting adults, not a teenager and the dad of someone they go to school with.

6. i often see people complaining about overused faceclaims and like, i understand it but at the same time, if that's who they imagine as the character then that's cool. it would be cool if people were a more creative and unique in their castings (i try my best to) but like i said, if that's who the imagine the character to be then leave it as that.

7. please cast sibling characters with the same ethnicity - it can be classed as whitewashing do so (unless they're adopted, step siblings or even half siblings then that can be justified). this mostly applies to latino/latina characters.
