The Last Kiss

Chapter 3

"Kiss me."

Did he really just ask me to kiss him? My eyes widen and I was sure I was blushing as hell.

Then he started to laugh. Really hard.

"You should've" laugh "seen your" laugh again "face!" Then he just laughed for a whole minute. I impatiently tapped my heels on the floor. He must've noticed my anger because he stopped and tried to look serious.

"Alec." He said suddenly.

"Huh?"

"It's my name, pretty." He said with a wink.

"Tch. My name's Rielle." I answered, refusing to smile.

"Oh." He said, his eyes widening a little bit. "You're Katherine's sister!"

"Yes, how'd you know? And who invited you here by the way? I've never seen you before." How come he knows me?

"I'm James' brother." He answered.

"No way. You're the singer?" I asked disbelievingly.

"Yup." He said, popping the P. "So I guess you've heard some things about me from my brother, and I've heard things about you from your sister."

"What did she tell you?" I asked suspiciously.

"Not much. Just... things." He said with a smile that made me uncomfortable.

"Whatever she said, it's not true." I answered kinda defensively. What did Kate say?

"Not true, that her sister's a wallflower who could be really beautiful if she wanted to, but she just wants to be simple and hidden in the shadows?" He said.

"She told you that?" What the hell Kate?

"Yeah, and something about you hating guys and wanting to promote a man-free earth?" He said, then chuckled.

"That's not true!" I can't believe Kate told him that!

"But hey, I'm not offended. I understand that you're bitter about guys because maybe, just maybe, one guy made you change your whole perspective about all of us." He said with a shrug.

"You're actually right, but it's actually none of your business." I wanted to get away. I suddenly remembered why I sat there on the first place, to get away from him.

I got up and picked up my bag.

"Where you goin? You can sit here, my mom won't be sitting anytime soon." He motioned to Mrs. Lewis, who I met already before, talking animatedly with my mom on our table.

"I gotta go wash my face. Sorry I can't entertain you any longer." I said sarcastically.

"Okay. See you around." He said with a wink.

The rest of the reception went great. It would've been a perfect day, if I won't count my encounter with Carlo. I was simply not prepared, I told myself. I don't love him anymore. I was just overwhelmed at seeing him after a very long time.

Oh, and that guy, Alec. I can't believe he's James' brother! They don't look alike.
And I think he's really arrogant, unlike humble James. But then again, James said he's a really good and well-paid singer.

But enough of my drama, this day is for my sister. She finally got to marry the man of her dreams.

She and James have been dating for 7 years when James asked her to marry him. Their relationship wasn't perfect, I was a witness everytime they fight and my sister tells me she wants to end things with James. But of course, they get back together all the time.

Now James' got my sister and I know he's never letting her go.

It's kinda sad, Kate going away from me. She and I live together, since my college's just a block away from her apartment. We're really close. Like, really, really close. With no secrets from each other. But tonight when I go home, she won't be with me anymore. She'll be living with her husband, naturally. Good thing his house is only 5 blocks from ours. I can always visit her, and vice versa.

The wedding's finally over. Our families are just going to help Kate and James bring all their presents to their home and that's it. I pick up all I can get and load it in my car. I was about to close the door when a hand touched my shoulder. I jumped, causing me to close the door a little strongly.

"Rielle." A voice said.

"Are you out of your effing mind?" I said venemously. I do not want to be creeped upon on.

"Sorry." He said with an apologetic shrug.

"What do you want, Carlo?"

"I just want to apologize for earlier, for wanting to rush things. I know you won't forgive me soon, but I would want you to know that I will do my best for you to forgive me."

"Just please leave me alone right now. I need to get these things to Kate."

"Want me to drive?" He asked.

"No thanks. I can handle myself pretty well." I answered with a smile.

We stayed silent for a while. Then he said, "So it's still a no, then?"

"Yes."

"Ok. But be warned; I will win you back. I love you and I will do everything for you to accept me again."

I didn't have the chance to reply. He opened the car door for me, and closed it as I got in. Then he left, with a sad smile on his lips.

I was left there thinking, 'What am I going to do?'
