Uchiha Shisui opened his eyes, which shouldn't be possible because, one, he shouldn't have eyes, and two, he shouldn't be alive. But there he was, lying in a comfortable hospital bed, in room which looked to be one in the Konoha hospital but had far too many advanced machines Shisui ever remembered seeing there.
He was not bound and his chakra was free, which was a good sign, but he was still cautious. This could easily be Danzo's play at getting his other eye, which was strange because while he was seeing out if both his eyes and experiencing three dimensional vision, he clearly remembered one of his eyeballs being ripped out by Danzo and the other by himself. Surely, no medic was capable of reconnecting such carelessly broken vessels and nerves?
He tried to activate his Sharingan, only to find that he was unable to do so. Okay, so the chances of this being a genjutsu just increased ten fold. He immediately pulsed his chakra to dispell whatever genjutsu hadn't been able to detect till now. Only, everything stayed the same.
Shisui frowned, and was about to repeat with a stronger chakra pulse when the door opened and a pink haired kunoichi entered the room.
"Ah, Shisui-san. You're awake." She took out a clipboard. "How are you feeling? Any nausea, dizziness or pain in abdomen."
"Uh, no, I'm fine sensei." He answered politely, because medics were Scary. "Do you have a daughter, if you don't mind me asking? He blurted out, because there could only so many people with that shade of pink in the village and he had definitely seen a little girl with the same hair following Sasuke-chan the other day."
"I do. But she's probably not who you're thinking off." She smiled.
"What do you mean?"
"I don't know how to break this gently, so I'm just going to rip the bandaid. You're twenty years into the future. The girl you probably thought to be my daughter, it was me." She said, gently.
Shisui stared at her for a few beats. "Is there a punch line?"
He expression turned sympathetic. "This isn't a joke Shisui-san. I know it sounds ridiculous but..... well, Hokage-sama should be here to explain it soon. It started with his hair brained idea after all." She mumbled the last part.
"Hokage-sama? I guessing you aren't talking about the Sandaime, since this is supposedly the 'Future'." Shisui played along.
"Oh no. We have the Nanadaime now - Uzumaki Naruto." She answered, grinning.
"That blonde kid with eye searing orange clothes that shouted to the village that he was going to become Hokage." Shisui asked, incredulously.
"That's the one."
"Sakura-chan! Is he awake?" A loud voice carried from the corridor, before a tall blonde man wearing orange shirt and Hokage's cloak entered the room. "Ah, Shisui-san, You're awake!! It's so nice to finally meet you."
Shisui wasn't entirely convinced that this was real, but he didn't want to take a risk to insult the Hokage. He quickly got out of the bed and bowed deep, "The honor is mine, Hokage-sama."
"Hey, you don't have to do that." The Nanadaime flailed. "Please get back into the bed before Sakura-chan punches me."
That was definitely what he expected a Hokage to be like, but obeyed the order. Sakura-san left the two of them, presumably to visit her other patients.
"You must be wondering how you were alive and ended up in the future?" The Hokage asked, taking a seat.
"The though did cross my mind." Shisui joked, immediately regretting it, realising that he was talking to the Hokage.
The Nanadaime just grinned back.
"Well, it's a long story......."
It indeed was a very long, confusing and complicated story, which was made further confusing by the Nanadaime as he frequently forgot mentioning important things.
An hour later, Shisui was firmly convinced that he was indeed not in a genjutsu but twenty years into the future. Nobody would make up such a ridiculous tale if it wasn't true. Furthermore, the Hokage knew of many facts about the Uchiha clan he couldn't have unless he was telling the truth.
"Can I see Itachi?" He asked, as soon as he was able to make heads and tails of the situation. He couldn't believe Danzo had ordered Itachi to massacre the clan......
"Oh, I am afraid you can't see him today." The Nanadaime replied regrettably. "He had a round of chemo earlier today, and would be pretty much out of it the whole day. You can see him tomorrow, though." He finished, grinning brightly.
Shisui smiled back, mentally wondering how he was not getting emotional whiplash from the blonde.
