I do recall that life on the island was no always as peaceful and safe as I would have liked. But it was better than where we had come from. Calina always said that the island was like her home, full of threats and danger but always entertaining. Edward still says that the island was one of the best thing that ever happened to him. Although he refuses to acknowledge some of the events. I personally found the island a little to stiff and militarized for my tastes but we weren't actively hunted down there. Now, I suppose I should continue from where I left off last time

A loud, piercing siren cut through the air, jarring everyone back to attention. I looked around and noticed that everyone was searching the skies with apprehension in their eyes. All of the demigods were reaching for weapons. I made eye contact with Edward, than Calina, a silent agreement passing between the three of us. I no longer remember what it was but it was empowering. Everyone looked like they were afraid, all except for one older girl down to table. She looked more annoyed than worried. I decided I'd ask her why later.
Sophia's Side Note:
The girl was from the American Midwest and she was used to tornado sirens going off constantly.Suddenly, Luna shouted from the other side of the table, "Air Raid!"
Demigods all around leapt into action. I remember being impressed by the order that came about. I watched as several demigods ran off in small groups of three to four into several mounds I hadn't noticed before. Seconds later, hatches opened in each and large gun barrels emerged. Other grabbed any other weapons they could find and aimed them at the heavens. The dark clouds of the storm were almost on top of us but I could see the planes flying in formation towards our base.
I remember a voice in the back of my mind whispering, "this is how we die," but the more sensible part of me argued that there is no way these planes would be of a threat. No one in their right minds would attack an island crawling with of children of gods. That would never end well.
"How did they get anti aircraft guns?" Edward asked in shock.
"They have several planes," Calina shot back at him, "How do you think they got them?"
Edward opened his mouth to speak but I interrupted, "Come on guys, should we try to help?"
They nodded and Luna appeared behind us. "I need you three to find shelter. We do not know your skill levels and aren't going to risk getting you killed."
Calina and Edward began to protest but I grabbed their hands and hauled them away. Calina didn't resist to being dragged away but Edward pulled against me the entire time. I couldn't blame him. He was the son of the war god, it was in his blood to join battle. But I knew he wouldn't go against orders. Calina's cooperation, on the other hand, could be either a curse or a blessing. I hoped it meant that she would listen to our instructions. I was glad to go to shelter in all honesty although I couldn't really understand and it ashamed me.
Thunder roared overhead, mixing with the planes' engines and the chaotic sirens. I could hear Calina beginning to sing softly under her breath. Time slowed to a near standstill as the planes opened their bay doors.

The shapes dropped right towards the center of the camp. The anti aircraft guns began firing as the searchlights illuminated the stars on the underside of the wings. American planes. Why were the Americans bombing us?
