Charlie's Goodbye

Even though I had my doubts about Charlie I was at home dancing in his arms. He was giving me signals that he felt the same. I looked into his eyes and got completely lost.

An inner voice was telling me he had been searching for me for centuries. We were together in another life. He knew he would find me again someday. That is how he knew me so well. The dreams I was having were also steeped in memories.

"Are you in my head right now?" I already knew the answer. "Because you know I've figured you out."

"NO, I don't have some spell on you that draws you unwillingly to me. No, I don't want to drain you of your blood and turn you undead and I don't like garlic simply because I DON'T LIKE IT."

"So you're not a vampire then? I was racking my brains. Are you saying that this is reincarnation?"

"Whatever this is I need to know because I like you Charlie but I don't know you. On the contrary, you know me too well. I haven't been sleeping and I haven't been myself since meeting you."

"Please believe in me Emily." he pleaded as his hand touched my face "What I'm saying to you is that I am not a monster."

"Can you say that you are a human being?"

Charlies Goodbye

I was overcome with sadness at the question that she asked of me. We both knew I couldn't answer it. I had been chasing her through time. The further she got away from me the less she remembered. I refused to give up. But I would give in hoping someday she would remember us and join me on the other side. Then we would wait together for the day we would walk the other world again.

"Your still not ready." I took her hand and kissed it. Then I walked over to the DJ and requested a song.

I grabbed a mic and shouted "Hello  Everybody!" I cleared my throat and started to sing.

Slipping Away

Charlie was up there standing in front of the band singing the heck out of "Creep." His eyes were literally tearing up. People at the party were in awe of his performance. I would have been too if I didn't know that it was directed at me. He had already freaked me out majorly tonight. This was just icing on the beware cake. It would have been the perfect moment for me to walk out.

He got to the end of the song. As he sang I don't belong here he fell to the floor. The lights in the ballroom flickered and the party attenders gasped. I ran to where Charlie had fallen, reached for him and pulled his head into my lap.

Charlie coughed and a black haze poured from his mouth. A ghostly black apparition appeared in the
haze and floated across the ballroom.

Was I going crazy or did that just happen?! No one else seemed to notice anything but Charlie lying there in my arms.

Charlie coughed again, looked up at me bewildered and asked "Wwwwhere am I?"

"Your at the ball with me. You passed out. Don't you remember?"

"A ball? No... The last thing I remember is asking you how you take your coffee."

Lana del rey was crooning "Get Free" as Emily led Charlie to their table and poured him a glass of water. We should take you to the hospital. Just to get you checked out. I'll try to explain to you what I think may have happened on the way. But I don't think you'll believe me.

Out of The Black

He was standing by the entrance of the ballroom watching them converse. He knew this wasn't the end.

There was always another beginning. He had somewhat told her the truth. Indeed he was not a bloodsucking, sun fleeing, night flying vampire of lore. He wasn't a psychic vampire who drained the energy of his victims. But he was a ghostly time traveling spectre and minion who possessed bodies and drained energy from others around him.

It didn't matter that she had rejected him because the moment he met her centuries ago he had taken a part of her into himself. She would forever be a part of him. He would forever be a part of her. No matter how far she ran. He turned and walked out the door.

Never looking back the man in black walked away into the darkness.
