Chapter 9: Movie night*************************
I was watching Brooklyn 99 and laughing my lungs out when my phone rang with Noah's name on the caller ID.
"What?" I said as soon as I picked up, pausing the show on my laptop.
"What are you doing right now?" He asked, the question sounded suspicious but I answered anyway.
"Nothing, I'm at home watching a show..., what do you want? " I shrugged.
"I know today is not your shift but please can you go to the greenhouse, something urgent came up so I can't go... Please please please." He begged.
"I swear if I find out your urgent work is something like your fortnight game I'm gonna kill you," I said, remembering the last time he pulled this stunt.
"It's not. I'm serious, come on Davis I need your help, I'll name my firstborn after you..." He pleaded.
"Please don't..." I cringed. Why is he so dumb?
"I'll treat you at Bailey's!" He said as if he got a brilliant idea. At least this was a better deal.
"Fine. Alright... I'll go, just this once..." Why am I so nice?
"Thank you so much! I owe you!" He said and the line went dead.
I dropped my phone in my lap and decided to drag myself to work. Noah really owes me for abruptly ending my plans of laying in my bed all day.
I changed into a blue tank top and black jeans, fixed my hair in a high bun, grabbed my bag and my phone and then hopped down to make myself some brunch in the kitchen.
Today was one of those days when both my parents were home. "Morning mom," I said as soon as I spotted her, sitting at the coffee table sipping her morning coffee.
"Sky, there's some coffee for you in the pot." She told me and I made my way straight to it. I look a lot like my mom, I got my dark eyes and straight nose from her, but my hair was the same dark brown as my dad, I even got his high cheekbones.
"Hey Dad, what are you making?" I greeted him as he was busy assembling some dish in the kitchen.
"Hey, kiddo." He said absently, he was a Chef at a restaurant and he's always trying new recipes at home. "Are you hungry?"
I nodded and took a sip of my coffee. He quickly served me a plate of pasta he just prepared. "Here you go... it's a new recipe."
"Smells delicious." I sat down, grabbed a fork and started eating, it tasted just as good as its aroma. "This is amazing!" I told him and he smiled happily making a dimple dig into his cheek.
"Where are you going this early?" Mom asked, "thought you had the day off..."
"Noah had something to do, so I'm filling in for him," I answered between bites as I ate.
"Is he your boyfriend?" Mom asked and I choked and then I had to chug a glass of water to not die.
My parents just stared at me, expecting an answer. "No mom geez..." I said with wide eyes.
"Weren't you two spending time together in your room last month, pretending to do homework?" Dad asked.
"We weren't pretending!" Oh gosh, stop this torture.
"Why not, he seems like a nice boy..." And he also flirts with everything, including plants.
"I don't like him like that." Not this conversation again! Please kill me, somebody. I quickly finished my food in a hurry to leave home.
