"SHIT" i yell in pain as my father shoots my leg.
"Desiree, im sorry." My little brother says, coming at me with a knife. my mom was no where to be seen, probably after damaris.
"DAMAR RUN" i yell to him as i move out the way.
i find my way to escape, hoping damar found his. i see him from the attic window, opening it and climbing down the ladder as fast as possible.
"Desi are you ok?"
"Dad shot me, it hurts"
"Dont worry, you have me"
he carries me to our friend Mattia's house since he lives the closest.
"MATTIA, MR. OR MRS. POLIBIO, PLEASE ITS US DESIREE AND DAMARIS"
i shout while banging the door. they quickly open and damar takes me down to tia's room.
"Tia get the bandages please"
"Ill get you some water" damaris says as mattia comes to me with bandages.
he begins wrapping my leg, as i inhale sharply on some occasions. when he was done, he called alejandro and i called kairi. they came over and kairi brought maiya
Desi: "Kai can i talk to you for a second?"
Kai: "sure, Maiya stay here."
we go into a corner
"Why did you bring her. Shes gonna get traumatized!" i say, whisper yelling
"Just dont show her the guns"
"This just made surviving 10 times harder. Shes gonna have to help us."
"Desiree are you fucking insane?! My little sister will not be setting a finger on a gun"
"Well shit kairi. what the fuck are we gonna do then? Its either she dies, or she helps and we all survive"
"Fuck you" he ends this conversation as he goes over to maiya to explain whats happening.
i walk over to them and see tears in her eyes. she looks up to me and hugs me tightly.
"Please tell me its not true. Desi please!!" she begins crying as her voice cracks.
"Im sorry babe, this is reality. I promise i will teach, protect, and help you with any and every thing"
i say as i kiss her forehead
Alejandro, Mattia, and Damaris come to us.
"What did you tell the poor girl?"
alejandro asks.
"The truth" i say in response
"DESIREE ARE YOU DUMB?!" mattia yells
"Desiree id normally agree with you but what the hell?" my twin asks confused
"If we didnt tell her she wouldve died. Its better like this"
"I guess. Lets go, gia and kastro should be here by now" kairi states
we run outside and get in the car. i hand maiya a gun as she looks at me in pain.
"Maiya im sorry, its to keep you as safe as possible if we arent by you."
"If you see anyone aiming at us, or you with guns, shoot them" Kairi adds
"b-but how do i know its not you guys that im shooting?" she asks, trying to calm herself down
"Me, kairi, mattia, ale, gia, kastro, or damaris will always be by your side to tell you. i promise"
she nods her head as she looks down at the gun.
"Lets just get this over with" She says while i hand her a mask
