-Backstory-

Jaine was born in a small town, in the middle of the south. She was born different, it wasn't just her fiery red hair and black eyes. She had a demon whispering in her ear, a parasite that lived off her life force. She was bullied for her looks, called a hell child by her community. She was mocked for her broken Irish accent and her lack of lady like being behavior. For years she suppressed the demon her her mind. Then high school came, as did the final day of reckoning.

-Jaine's POV-

I sat in class, the whispers around me were loud. I new they weren't about me, more liked hoped, but at this point it's the same thing to me. My hair brushed and pulled back into a braid, it was smooth to the touch and was quite calming to play with. My eyes dart around the room, most of these people I have known my entire life and yet I still felt like I didn't know them at all. Everyday was an experiment for them, to see how far they could push me before I break. In all my years, I haven't told anyone about the demon. They used to just be a voice, then a silhouette that kept to the shadows. Now they had a form, a tail with a point at its end and skin half covered in scales with reptilian like eyes. They had no real gender but chose instead to keep a neural type body and clothing style. I never actually found out their name, I just call them parasite because that's all they have ever been to me. They sit in the corner of the room smirking, fear runs through me. Smack, a girls hand lands on my desk.

"Well isn't it the freak," Jessica teased me. Her friends were surrounding me, where is the teacher. I hear snickers from the others in my class, but all I can pay attention to is the parasite that is currently stalking their way towards us.

"Maybe I can teach you a lesson about pecking order," the parasite growls in a thundering voice. I cover my ears to tone out the parasites voice, I glance a pleading look at the parasite in hopes they don't make a decision that might harm us both. The girls look around confused, even Jessica.

"Did you hear that?" Britany asks concerned. I turn the the parasite, 'they can hear you!' I shout at them.

"About damn time they did!" The parasite cheers. The girls all turn towards the sound, but they saw nothing based off their blank expressions. 'They still can't see you though' , I tell the parasite. They frown and then walk over to me, they place their hand on my shoulder and it felt like fire hit my body. The gasps of everyone in the room was interesting.

"Who is that?" Jessica shouts as she backs away from the parasite and I.

"I'm Airon," the parasite tells them, "and you have been hurting my host." The rest of the class has gathered around my parasite and I. They then reached out and touched Jessica's face, Jessica's perfect face morphed into one of pure pain. The color drained out of her skin and her eyes glazed over as she collapsed to the ground. The energy that ran through my body made me stand up, it was Jessica's life force. The parasite stepped back over to me with a smile, they then grabbed my hand and intertwined our fingers. For once in my life I felt safe with my parasite, I guess after all those years with her at my side we developed a bond without me even knowing. The parasite looks at me with a smirk and I felt some of the strength bleed out of me, but for the first time in my life I didn't mind sharing my energy with them.

"Ready to take them on?" My parasite asked a bit of a growl in their voice.

"Yes... my friend," I answer her. They smiled and pulled me close, I had completely looked over the fact that we're were alone in the classroom. They leaned down and silently asked for permission, I gave a small nod and my parasite kissed me gently. I leaned into them and we broke the kiss in a couple seconds, it was the happiest I have ever felt in a long time.

"Your school will never know what hit them," my parasite laughed happily. We walked out of the classroom and into the blazing sun in hopes of taking another life to feed our hunger.
