"What story do you want to read today? Let me guess, the Tale Of The Four Kingdoms, "the woman said as she tucked her six year old son into bed.
The six year old boy said excitedly, "Of course, it's my favorite story! The heroes are so brave in the story!"
The woman chuckled, "Okay, ok. There once was four kingdoms who were united and beautiful. Each kingdom represented a trait. The kingdom of Timor represented truth while the kingdom of Furorem represented perseverance. The kingdom of Maeror represented love and the kingdom of Mortem represented freedom. They were all magnificent places until four girls came. The four girls made a deal with each other. They would work together to conquer these four kingdoms and each of them would get a kingdom. But they had no support or army at this time so they decided not to attack then. Slowly, they made a huge army out of refugees, criminals, lost souls, ghouls, and ghosts over the time they waited. Finally after five years, they had a complete battle plan and army. But they were missing one thing-."
"The gem of the fire phoenix!" the six year old boy shouted. The boy had heard the story so many times that he had memorized it but that didn't stop him from liking the story even more.
The woman smiled, "Yes. So the girls decided to split up. They decided who would go where by their strengths. Now the fire phoenix had immense strength so the girls already knew they wouldn't be able to defeat it and get the gem using strength so they decided to send the two girls who were the most manipulative and cunning. Lisa and Chaeyoung were the most manipulative. Lisa appeared as a mischievous, sweet lady but inside she used this advantage to find out her enemies plans and make plans of her own. Chaeyoung was also manipulative but in a different way. She used her enemies' emotions against them and guilts them into doing things. This is why the girls chose them to go fight the Fire Phoenix. Now, battlefields are naturally violent so they needed people who could stand the violence but also confuse their enemies. And Jisoo and Jennie were perfect for this. Jisoo seemed like an insane person to most people so nobody would expect her to lead an army or be able to fight. In fact, she loved fighting and bloodshed. Jennie was also violent but she could keep her temper very well which was good. Jennie could think straight even if she was losing the battle so she could come up with great battle strategies even on the chaotic battlefield. This is what they decided."
The boy asked with a curious face, "But Mommy, why did they want to take over the four kingdoms in the first place?"
"They were probably power hungry or greedy, I guess. But that is a good question, "the woman said thoughtfully after she pondered for a moment.
"I think there's a different motive. I mean they could do other things if they were just greedy, 'the boy said with a curious expression.
The woman said with a smile, "Maybe you're right. I'll see if I could change it before I publish it. Anyway, Lisa and Chaeyoung succeeded in tricking the Fire Phoenix into giving them the gem. With the gem, the four girls were invincible. They decided to hide the gem instead of keeping it in one of the kingdoms. But nobody knew that. Countless heroes tried to get it but they were all captured and killed. Ultimately, the four girls got control of all four kingdoms. Lisa was in charge of Timor, Jennie was in charge of Furorem, Chaeyoung was in charge of Maeror, and Jisoo was in charge of Mortem. The kingdoms all turned evil and no longer represented what they used to. But then five heroes emerged from the very bottom. Irene was the first to do so. She was a citizen of Mortem but she was an orphan. Her dad left her mom and her when she was very young. Then, her mom was chosen to participate in the selection that Mortem hosted every year. You had to survive in the forest for six months but the other participants would have to try to kill each other. Her mom died like the rest of the participants. Irene had to live by herself without anyone's care. While she was growing up, she grew resentful of the four kingdoms and noticed all the wrongs that the four kingdoms had. Now, the four girls didn't age though. You see, time goes way slower there. According to our time, a 100 years for us is a day for them."
