As she began to run out the door, the phone rang. She quickly turned around and answered it. She said, "Hello." All she could hear was the sound of someone breathing on the other end. She quickly lay the phone down and then the front door slammed loudly.

She jumped and ran to the back door to leave before anything could happen. She touched the cold doorknob and saw the lock broken. She backed away and bumped into someone, standing right behind her. She turned quickly to see her neighbor, Jeff, standing there. She didn't understand why he was in her kitchen. He wore a creepy smile across his face and as she took a step back, he grabbed her arms. She was afraid to do anything-to move, afraid to breath. She smiled back at him and he let go of her. As she turned away from him, he hit her in the head.

Hours passed and she began to wake up slowly. She was tied up and gagged. She looked around in the dim light in the basement. Next to her sat a woman tied up just like her. A small child sat in the corner of the room. She tried to call him over to her to free her. The child began to move and the door up at the top of the steps opened wide. She looked up to see her neighbor, Jeff, standing there. He rushed down and hit the child. He then came over towards her and undid the gag around her mouth. She sat there afraid to even look at him in the eyes.

"You're my favorite, " he said slowly and kissed her forehead. He turned to the child and yelled at him not to touch her or else. The child began to cry in fear of him and he smiled and waved good-bye to her. She watched the door close and began to untie the ropes. The woman nexts to her began to move. The woman had a black eye and many cuts on her face. The child looked at them and moved to the bottom of the steps.

"Come here," she called out to the child.

The child moved quickly over to her and stared at the other woman. She looked to see fear in her eyes. The child smiled and layed his head on her. Hours passed and she fell asleep with the child laying on her. His body was shaking in fear over the man upstairs. She slowly fell asleep and then woke up to screams and laughter. She turned to see the woman lying bloody on the ground. She looked around for the child and she could make out the shape of him hiding in the shadows.

The door flew open and Jess ran into the cold, dark basement. He dragged the body up the stairs and closed the door. She tried to call the child back over to her but he would not move from his place in the shadows. Jeff came back down and hit her across the face; she cried out in pain. Tears fell down her eyes. The child poked his head out to reveal his mouth covered in blood. Her eyes grew big; the child raced over to Jeff and jumped onto him. The child began to rip into his chest. His body slowly fell and it hit the ground with a thump. The child covered all in blood rushed quickly over and layed his head on her. She began to quickly and quitely untie the ropes. They broke and she slowly lifted the child off of her.

She quitely walked up a few steps when, suddently the child's eyes flew open and he dashed after her. She ran up to the door, but it was locked. She banged and screamed for help and the child grabed her ankle and dragged her down the steps. Her cries never made it outside of the house. The child sat there quitely running his hands through her hair and rocking her dead body in his lap. The child was now fed and happy. All of this might have been advoided if she didn't answer the phone and left. The day died and the night came alive and the life of her was gone.
