>>>>>>>>>>>>>THE MOMENT the bell rang, Beckett grinned at Caroline and stood up from his chair, grabbing his notebooks and the leather journal that now had Caroline's phone number scribbled inside of it.
"See ya, Cupcake."
Caroline, stunned at what Beckett had called her, returned the smile (it was more of a cringe, really, which probably was the cause of Beckett's chuckling as he walked out the classroom door).
Snapping out of her daze, she gathered all her things and began walking out of the classroom. In front of the room, Mr. Bennet - the english teacher - smiled at her from his desk as they made eye contact.
"Caroline!" He greeted loudly, his neat blonde hair shining in the flourescent school lights. "You should know that I'm very excited to see what you and Beckett come up with," he says, smiling from ear to ear. "Of course, no pressure."
Caroline let out a semi-comfortable chuckle. "That just puts more pressure onto it, Mr. Bennet."
"Yes, but the more pressure there is, the more you make your project look fantastic."
She smiled, carrying her binder in her one arm. "That's very true," she admits, her smile growing, and very quietly, she leans in and says, "I gotta go to lunch. I'll see you at home."
He chuckled, nodding. "See ya, kid."

"No."
"Yes."
"No!"
"Yes!"
"No!"
"Yes-- yeah, let's stop that now," Caroline laughed, staring at her lilac-haired best friend, Savannah Briggs.
Savannah's jaw dropped as she stared at Caroline, which was exactly how Caroline expected her to react when she had told her about her being partnered with Beckett. Savannah, who is big on drama and mystery, clapped her hands together in excitement.
"You're partners with Beckett Louis!" Savannah said to Caroline in a low voice. "The super hot Beckett Louis. The mysterious Beckett Louis. The Beckett Louis with the sexy raspy voice--"
"God, people can hear you," someone said, making both Savannah and Caroline turn their heads.
Will Dunbar, Caroline's #2 best friend (though she says she doesn't have a favorite), set his tray next to Savannah's and let out an exhausted sigh. His brown eyes were covered by his hipster glasses - "There's nothing hipster about them." - as he looked up and smiled. "So," he began, making eye contact with Savannah and taking a bite out of one of his carrots, "why're you guys talking about Beckett Louis?"
Savannah's pale face mischievously smirked over to Caroline, who in return, rolled her eyes. "Will, guess who Caroline's year-long partner is for English!"
He coughed, his hand immediately patting his chest. "No way," Will managed to say, raising his thick eyebrows and chewing on his carrot. "Partners with Beckett Louis?"
"Yep," both girls replied, except Savannah's voice being a lot more excited.
Will laughed and ran a hand through his brown hair. Caroline swore that Savannah's stare lingered a bit too long at him, and she thought to herself: Ah. Young love. OTP for life, man.
"When was the last time you took a shower? Your hair looks greasy," Savannah mutters, looking away from Will and focusing on her lunch tray.
"Thanks, Sav. Your hair looks a bit purple," Will responded sarcastically, smiling cheekily at Savannah.
