Ava pov
Demetrius and I were in a stare off, me trying to figure out where the fuck he got the balls to try to convince me to let Ashley near Ashton.
"I don't understand how you can fix your mouth to ask me that when you were the one who found him crying on our porch because she didn't want him."
"Ava I get that but I'm just saying-"
"Don't just say shit." I cut him off, "Tell me you're not really considering this."
He sighed, sitting quietly at table.
I'd thought we were on the same page with this, us both agreeing she wasn't deserving of Ashton's time.
The longer I thought about, the more my mind kept drifting back to the thought I had weeks ago before the meeting: he should just kill her.
I walked closer to him, "I know how to fix it." I started in a low tone.
"How?"
"You could... kill her?"
This was the third time I'd asked Demetrius to kill someone for me. Both precious times had been successful, and after this time, I'd never ask again.
There was a long moment of silence as he stared at me.
Then he said something that I'd never expected to hear from him:
"No."
My brows furrowed in confusion, "No?"
"Ava what reason you got for wanting to kill her? Plus shit too hot right now. How you think it'll look if I kill her while we in the middle of a custody battle?"
He could come up with a way to hide it. He hid every other murder.
Shit wasn't too hot when he killed the witness to a crime he committed. He just was looking for a reason not to do it.
"So you're gonna let her rip apart our family?" I asked.
Demetrius rubbed his face in annoyance, "I'm not letting her do shit. She wanna see him every other weekend. Ion think that's bad."
"She left him Demetrius. I don't give a fuck what you think is 'that bad'."
Ashley should've stayed where the fuck she was. She dropped Ashton off like he was trash and now was back for him because she couldn't have any more kids.
He wasn't anybody's second option and I'll be damned if I let her treat him like she was.
I didn't understand why he was acting like he was so conflicted about killing her when he's probably killed better people for no reason.
"I'd never leave my kids for a man." I continued, "She doesn't deserve him."
"And I feel that but at the end of the day that's her son and a judge might give her more time than what I'm tryna do."
I was stuck on the fact that he called Ashton her son.
"Her who?"
He looked at me and realized where he'd fucked up, "Ian mean it like that Ava I'm just saying it how they'll see it."
"Since you clearly felt the need to remind me that's her son, how about you go over there with her and y'all can be a family?"
My feelings were hurt. I've never once treated Ashton as if he wasn't my own, only for him to say that shit to me.
"And what happened to I didn't have to justify why I wanted to kill someone? Or does it not count when it's a bitch you cheated on me with?"
"Don't start that shit with me bro. I told you I can't do it right now."
