Ava pov

2 weeks later

I laid quietly in the middle of the night waiting for Demetrius to come home. Following the pattern of recent weeks, I couldn't sleep.

I'm not sure what was preventing me from sleeping but every night I would lie here wide awake until 2 or 3 in the morning when he came home.

It felt like he was staying at the club later on purpose.

We hadn't really discussed the argument we had since I was trying to forget about it, and he was all too willing to ignore it along with me.

An unhealthy method, but what can you do when every time you express yourself, you're called crazy?

Lucas ignores me in my house, Lauren still doesn't talk to me, Demetrius talks to me, though it's forced, like he's only doing it because that's what he's supposed to do.

I just want everybody to make better decisions and I'm being punished for it.

Treated as an outcast, a lunatic, because I care enough to try to get them to choose the right path.

Everyone compares me to mom and dad when I haven't even scratched the surface of what they did.

The sound of the alarm alerted me to Demetrius' entrance and I immediately felt sleepy.

Staying quiet, I watched his silhouette enter the room, then go into the bathroom to take a shower.
I still pretended to be asleep when he came out, sliding into bed with me.

"I know your nut ass awake Ava." He stated with a sigh.

"Why is everybody being mean to me?" I asked sadly.

My feelings were hurt. I don't think I did anything to deserve this sort of treatment from people.

"Baby, you told Lauren to get an abortion, you went through Lucas' phone, on top of a lotta other extra shit you ain't have to do. Don't nobody wanna deal with that."

"She wouldn't have been pregnant if you didn't let Que sneak in our house and I wouldn't have had a reason to go through his phone if you didn't let him do shit with you."

"Them folks grown. Let them fuck up and learn from it. You can't just keep them from everything." He replied.

I thought that sounded stupid. Why would I willingly let them fuck up when I could prevent it?

Before I could tell him that, his phone rang.

"Wassup?" He answered.

After listening for a couple of seconds, he sat up, "Here I come."

"Who was that?" I asked while watching him pull on clothes.

"Lauren. She asked me to come get her."

Why would she call him and not me?

"Why?"

He shrugged "Some 'bout her and Que. Ian really ask."

Clearly.

I watched him walk out of the room, once again saddened that I'd been excluded by my family.

Lauren pov

Earlier that day/night

It was Ava's idea for me to start seeing a therapist.

At first I was against it, wondering what it was going to solve if I couldn't tell them everything that was happening, but I went just so she'll stop talking about it.
