Scarlet's Pov:
I was sitting my ass on the couch writing the first chapter of my short story when Cody my best friend messages me and asked me if I could watch and support him play volleyball around three-thirty this afternoon. Me being me, which is being supportive I replied with delight that I would love to watch him play and support him saying that I'll be there ahead of time to talk to him.
I head into the shower around two in the afternoon because my hair doesn't dry that easily, and also I have to choose from what clothes to wear. When I finish I walk out of the bathroom, with my black shoulder-length hair dripping and I quickly wipe the droplets on the floor with the mat we have around. I enter my bedroom and choose what shirt to wear, remembering that Cody sometimes asks me to play with him before his game I decide to wear my black volleyball shorts that go with cycling shorts inside of it, making sure it doesn't show to much skin and to top it off I wore my over-sized green shirt that had the number four at the back with my last name written on bold black letters. I start looking for my pair of black socks when my grandma enters the room and she lays down in bed looking sleepy as ever while I keep looking for my pair of black socks I hear her mumble something.
I didn't ask her to repeat it what she said because I then hear her snoring and asleep on the right side of the bed. In the corner of my drawer, I find my pair of black socks and sigh in relief. I wear them on, along with my Nike's, and look for a spear shirt I could change into in case I sweat and put it inside my small backpack. I jog my way down the stairs and into the kitchen to get cold bottled water that I might need and an extra one for Cody.
I leave the house and walk my way to the park, It's around three o'clock when I hit the bleachers and see Cody practicing with his teammates inside the court. I didn't call for his attention because I knew that he needed to practice and we could catch up later. I sit there on the bleachers watching him play doing his best to receive the ball or pass the ball to his team players, then I noticed how he got bigger not by height but by muscle mass. His body from slim into a fit 5'10 hot mess. His black hair all over the place but looks good on him, his eyes light blue just like mine, and his jawline is made perfect just for him. Cody wearing his color blue jersey that has the number four printed on the front and back with his last name on it as well. RAY, his last name on bold written on the back of his sleeveless jersey that fits him perfectly and shows of his muscular biceps and if he wasn't my best friend people would think I was in love with him romantically, thank God I'm not.
When Cody notices me he excuses himself from the game and jogs his way to me with his pearly white teeth and braces showing as he smiles and winks at me. I toss him a towel I brought for him cause he never brings one with him, and always expects me to bring the things he needs. Very typical of a dependent ass that he is, he sits down in front of me lifting up his jersey meaning for me to wipe his sweaty back.
"Wow, so this is how yo treat your best friend?"
He smiles at me and I see in his blue eyes he is planning something I don't like, he jumps and hugs me with his sweaty, sticky arms and kisses my cheeks with disgusting saliva and bad breath.
"Sheesh, don't you take a shower or brush your teeth?" I ask him but he just shakes his head and laughs his ass off, entertained by his dumb way of a joke.
"I do but I didn't shower today just to do that to you," Cody says as he winks at me and sits beside me wiping his own sweat from his face and neck, his Adam's apple bulging out as he swallows.
"You went out of your way to not shower just to do that to me, you really must love me don't yah?" I say to Cody and he laughs at me while I toss him a sarcastic laugh his way then he hugs me tight for some reason and I just sit there awkwardly as hell, confused with what he's doing.
"Sorry, I just missed you a lot."
After that, we started talking about what has been happening in our lives for the past few days that we haven't been seeing each other cause Cody has been busy with his training for the summer league for volleyball while I stay at home and do my thing. I tell Cody about the group of boys that almost harassed me and told him about the guy that saved me of course, his absent ass was guilty that he wasn't there to be my hero, and his mood sort of changed when I kept talking about him. Him meaning the boy that kept showing up out of nowhere and that he was my neighbor, I kept blabbering about him Cody kept frowning from that moment on. When the game was about to start I kissed his cheek and looked at him in the eyes and said "You got this dummy!" and he went inside the court.
Cody's team won and as the game ended my throat felt dry from screaming at the top of my lungs, cheering for Cody's ass, people during the game that sat beside me started looking at me irritated by my screams. I didn't mind though cause I came here to support him, and when everyone left Cody tossed me the volleyball and I caught the ball that almost hit me on the face.
"Come on, get your tiny ass here."
Cody says and I stand up and throw the ball towards him but I accidentally hit someone on the head.
"I'm sorry!" I say as I head towards the person I hit and about to retrieve the ball that's when I realized that I hit him. The boy that I always keep bumping into and always manages to save the day. He looks over his shoulder and he soon recognizes me, both of our blue eyes meet and he smiles at me. I crouch down to get the ball and so does he, our hands touch and we look at each other again I move my hand and stand up holding the ball. I jog back to Cody who is eager to play volleyball with me but my thoughts linger on with how our hands touched and I felt my stomach turning. I ignored it and continued to play along with Cody.
