{ NO POV }

You walk up to the gate, hands clutching the straps of your backpack. This is the moment of truth, and before you stands everything you could ever dream of: Hopes Peak Academy.

It was a miracle that they even wanted you, no schools did. But that was exactly the reason why, because you were so full of trouble and rage and danger, that nobody had wanted to even try you. To be someone so troublesome had to be excellent at some point, after all, you were the best at what you did. Even if.. you didn't particularly know what that was.

But as you walk up those famous steps.. things start to feel a little dizzy. You wobble on your feet, unable to regain any proper balance before everything blacks out.

{ (Y/N)'s POV }

I wake up in an unfamiliar room. Actually, upon looking at it, it looks much like a classroom. Except there is no teacher, or students, and appears to be completely abandoned. As I slowly bring myself to my feet, I find that I'm incredibly unstable, and feel as if I've been in a years long coma. But.. looking up at the clock proves that it's only actually been an hour, despite how I might feel.

Another concerning fact would be the windows, which are all bolted shut with what looks to be thick metal plates. An odd detail for a simple school to have, but yet again, this place is government funded. My foot makes a crunching voice as I stand up, bringing my attention down to the piece of paper I'd just stepped on.

"This looks like it was written by a five year old.." I mutter to myself, turning to poorly crafted pamphlet in my hand. It says to meet in the gym at 8am.. shit! It's already a half hour past that time!

I dash out the door, not even bothering to take note of the rest of my surroundings as I search for the gym. No matter how hard I try to make good first impressions or do my work properly, I always end up being true to my 'Ultimate Delinquent' title, even if I would rather not.

Finally, two big wooden doors come into view, with the nameplate 'Gymnasium' hanging above them. All the adrenaline had gotten to my head, and totally made the whole waking up in a classroom thing slip my mind. There wasn't any time to contemplate it as I slid open the doors, only to be met with the sight of a large group of students.

"Hey! There another one!" A tall male shouted from across the gym, his hair probably as long as my arm and sticking out wildly. His energy was incredibly positive, and for such a strange and slightly worrying situation, he didn't seem to be phased at all.

"Sixteen students.." A girl with long blue hair muttered to herself, dressed in a typical school uniform, "That's a good number! Sixteen is the perfect cutoff point!"

The positivity of these two students in particular clearly wasn't shared around the whole room, judging by the dark aura surrounding some of these glaring students. Just as I was lost in thought about the matter, I felt a shoulder collide with my own.

"Watch where you're going, peasant."

The cold remark had me whipping my head around in anger, my eyes meeting steely blue ones. They were beautiful, he was beautiful, but that didn't stop me from retaliating, "What the fuck did you just say to me?"

Those words were like my catchphrase at this point, and slipped out of my mouth without even realising it. They were loud and reverberated through the gym, catching the attention of my classmates. Clearly this new, incredibly handsome, blonde man hadn't expected it either. Shock was clear on his face, eyes widening behind those white-rimmed glasses.

"What? That stick so far up your ass that it fucked your hearing too?" I kept speaking, even if my better judgement said otherwise. But then, as if my better judgement was suddenly another human being, I felt a hand on my shoulder that somewhat cautiously pulled me away from the situation.

"Uh, hey, we shouldn't be fighting just now," The voice was timid, as if worried I would lash out again. I turned to see a young boy, a little taller than myself, with brown spiky hair. "That's Byakuya Togami, he is like that with everyone so try not to let it offend you."

I didn't answer right away, mainly caught up on this mysterious Togami guy, but this new kid must of thought it was his fault for the silence, "Ah! Sorry for not introducing myself! I'm Makoto Naegi."

He held out his hand, a flustered expression on his face. It was comforting in a way, to see someone so nervous, but still persistent to befriend me. Whatever this weird feeling of hope was, it made me smile, not hesitating to shake his hand.

"(F/N) (L/N)," I introduced myself, feeling a little less aggressive now. But even as I talked with Naegi, I could sense the familiar feeling of being watched, like there were eyes drilling into the back of my head.

"What ultimate are you?" Naegi asked, clearly curious. It had been a while since someone was so genuinely interested in me.

Still, the answer was on the tip of my tongue, and had me faltering for a moment. "The ultimate Delinquent. Not particularly something to be proud of, but I sure must be special if I'm the best at it in the world!"

"That's right! I read about you on the forum," There was a grin on Makoto's face, rather enthusiastic, "Your charm is what keeps you out of serious trouble, but that hasn't stopped you from being kicked out of every school in the area! An incredible record for someone of your age."

Before I could even ask who had put that stuff about me online, or what exactly his thing was, I was interrupted by the sound of a loud voice. It was.. rather squeaky, actually, but caught everyone's attention and had us all looking to the front.

"Testing! Testing! Mic check, can you all hear me?"

Then, all of a sudden, as if you of nowhere, a small bear had made its way onto the podium. The sight had others gasping, some still silent in shock. This.. wasn't natural, not at all. A bear couldn't talk? This peculiar occurrence brought me back to bolted doors, and security cameras. Something wasn't right here.

"No way! It's just a stuffed toy, probably remote controlled or something!" That guy from earlier shouted, the one with the big hair. I must of zoned out the whole conversation while I was in my own thoughts, but it wasn't hard to catch up.

"No! I am your principal! Monokuma!" The bear, who I supposed was named Monokuma, practically shouted in rage, "I am so advanced that not even NASA can figure me out! Do not compare me to a lowly child's toy!"

I was stuck in my spot, listening dumbly in on all of these crazy accusations. It only seemed to go downhill from there, this 'Monokuma' thing making such claims that they would have to live there forever, which sparked many protests and questions from the group. This was not the school life I had signed up for.

"Actually, there is one way to get out!" Monokuma pointed out, "If someone was to simply.. disrupt the harmony! Make it so you cannot all live in peace! Then they would be free!"

"What the fuck is that supposed to mean!" One guy near the back roared, donning a large jacket and an equally as large pompadour. It actually looked quite ridiculous.

Though, any remark or insult I had coming died down in my throat as it instantly dawned on me. My blood ran cold and my feet felt like they were glued to the spot. Hands came up to cup my mouth in shock, words coming out quiet and almost in a whisper, "He means murder.."'
